Loanee Watch (sponsored by Sammy the Clingan)

Some goals this week. Most weeks there are none, a little like my fantasy team.

Jonjo Shelvey scored from the halfway line as Rizespor won 1-0 in the Turkish Super Lig against Istanbulspor. He notched a 7.6 in Flashscore ratings.

Josh Bowler etched his name into the goals column when Cardiff lost 3-2 at home to Norwich. He was subbed on 71 minutes.

Hwang Ui Jo played 81 minutes for Norwich in the game above. No goals or assists.

Young Dale Taylor was withdrawn in the last few seconds of Wycombe Wanderers' 1-0 home defeat against Stevenage.

Gustavo Scarpa started for Olympiacos in their 2-0 away win against Asteras Tripolis in the Greek Super League. He was subbed on 66 minutes. Scarpa came on for the last 15 minutes of Olympiacos' 1-0 midweek loss to West Ham in the Europa League.

# Edit Omar Richards did play half a game for Olympiacos B. See Monkman's post below.

Loic Mbe Soh grabbed a 6.4 rating as Almere City drew 2-2 at home to Ajax in Holland's top division.

Alex Mighten lasted an hour as Belgian side KV Kortrijk fell 3-0 away at Royale Union SG. Just a 6 rating for Alex.

Emmanuel Dennis lasted 71 minutes of Istanbul Basaksehir's 1-0 defeat to Besiktas in Turkey's top League. A 6.3 rating for Dennis.

Only a 6 rating for Remo Freuler in Bologna's 2-1 away loss at Fiorentina in Italy's Serie A. Freuler was withdrawn on 69 minutes.

Yes, thanks for pointing that out. I did post about this in the Omar Richards thread.

I didn't really want to set a precedent for covering B matches as the time commitment will be incredible, but will include a note in the post (I had meant to but was in a rush). I'll make an edit.

Canaries striker Hwang Ui Jo has been questioned by police in South Korea following allegations he illegally filmed sexual encounters with women.

He was questioned by cybercrime officers in Souel at the weekend. He strongly denies all charges and has brought a counter-claim for defamation and blackmail against his accuser, who claims to be a former partner of Hwang's.

Hwang claims the footage was taken with the woman's consent and that he later lost the phone whilst playing in Greece with Olympiacos.

Ah, the old, „I lost my phone (wink, wink)“ argument. I suppose there wasn‘t a passcode on it either.

Hwang Ui-Jo (or Hwang Bang Thank you Mam as he's now known on the Pink Un Forum) slotted home Norwich City's winner in their 1-0 victory against QPR at the weekend. I wouldn't go as far as to say he's popular, but he's certainly not facing the same amount of vitriol as he was earlier in the season. Norwich manager David Wagner paid tribute to him at the link below.

Jonjo Shelvey played the full 90 as Rizespor drew 0-0 with Antalyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig. He scooped a 7.3 rating.

Josh Bowler lasted for 72 minutes of Cardiff City 2-1 away victory against Preston North End. He got a 6.4 on Flashscore ratings.

Dale Taylor was substituted at half time as Wycombe Wanderers lost 2-1 at home to Reading in League One. Just a 5.8 rating for Dale, and according to Twitter (or X) he could have been sent off for a poor tackle.

A 5.7 rating for Loic Mbe Soh as Almere City lost 5-0 at home to Heracles in the Dutch Eredivisie. He did, however, play the full game.

Remo Freuler entered the fray after 55 minutes of Bologna's 2-0 home win over Torino in Italy's Serie A.

Alex Mighten came on after 76 minutes of Belgian Pro League side KV Kortrijk's 3-0 home defeat against KV Mechelen.

Emmanuel Dennis lasted for 72 minutes of Istanbul Basaksehir's 1-0 away loss to Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig. Just a 6.3 rating for Dennis.

Thanks for these updates, Sammy.
I thought Dale Taylor was going to be the next success to emerge from the Academy, but he seems to be struggling.
The rest sound like they are probably not going to feature anytime soon at the city Ground.
and poor old Omar richards sounds like he ought to consider alternative, less physically demanding careers.

He's still only nineteen, though it feels like he's been around a lot longer. Not every teenage striker is Evan Ferguson.

Though it remains to be seen whether Dale was just a big kid who was able to dominate age group sides with his strength, as is often the case with some young strikers who never really make first team level - likes of Westcarr for example.

I've had the Barnsley Wycombe game on the tablet whilst watching Newcastle on TV. Dale Taylor was largely anonymous in a poor game. He didn't really show a great deal in the parts he did play. Got subbed off after 65 mins

Taylor will forge a decent career for himself, though I wouldn't back him to make it at the level we are at.

I was hoping he might do enough to earn himself a championship loan next year, though unless he hits a streak he has little chance with 3 in 17.

You can say that about every one from the academy and pretty much all the loans.

We're spending £10m+ on practically every player now, so it's no surprise that academy players won't reach those heights nor will the loans we purchased for a few bob whilst in the Championship.

Be interesting to see in 5-10 years time if our academy output is improved.

I've been quite pleased with how the Academy lads - particularly as the teams have been largely made up of the Under 19s - have done for themselves in the EFL trophy games.
If they can compete with League 1/2 adult sides now, surely the majority will have at least Championship football in their future.
I had thought, as it was our first go around and the majority of the academy's perceived stars were out on loan, that we'd probably lose all three games.

We actually need to stop this. It's far from sustainable. Brighton and Brentford sure don't spent £10m plus on each player they buy in.

Granted they had the Caicedo money, but we had Brennan money.

Agreed - if we stay at this level I think it's going to be the back end of that timescale if at all in terms of our next product.
