to move to a purpose built 50k stadium that needs to be used as a event stadium to have any chance in paying for just the f***ing interest payments alone on a 700 million dome…. In a provincial city/ outskirts… it’s bollox. Spurs etc will get NFL etc… but maybe I’m not thinking correctly here, who is going to come to Nottingham/Toton and be happy with not venturing into the city?

All for 10k extra seats… it’s a laughable financial decision and one that will haunt the club for decades. Get the WFCG to 40k job done.
Absolutely spot on. We have conditional planning granted for the scheme the club wanted, let's get on with it. By the way I don't think this latest release by the Athletic contains anything new so things may even have moved on between the club and the receivers of Nottingham City Council.

You expect financial sense in big league football?

Assuming Toton goes ahead, just imagine the beautiful apartments that will be built on the site.
The City of Nottingham will become the new Mecca, billions of pounds of tourist money being earned as people travel from far and wide to see what will be known as Marinakis’ Folly.

I’m ready for them
I don’t live anywhere near Long Eaton (Nuthall actually ). I work round the corner from the WFCG and love the place but I only care about Forest. THATS IT.
We the supporters make this club what it is not the ground or location and people need to remember that.
I just want Forest to be the best it can be. If that’s staying where we are fantastic. If not then I’m open to a move.
I completely disagree QB, the ground and it's location and all the memories that and soul that come with it along with it's supporter make the club what it is.

In reference to what Archbishop said, a move to Toton would make it significantly easier for me to get to, do I want that? Do I bollocks!!! I want the City Ground and all that comes with it.

I know what you mean, but surely you cant turn your allegiances on and off like a tap? Part of the experience of being of Forest fan is the feeling of coming home, when you see the pitch and stands for the first time, at the top of the stairs, the buzz in the pubs/bars beforehand, the walk along the Trent etc, but I’d still be a Forest fan even if we moved and I can’t imagine ever knocking that on the head. FTID.
Forest belongs to Nottingham and its people, not some shit hole village that borders derbyshire because land was cheap. It simply wouldnt be Nottingham Forest any longer, the current club wouldnt exist. May as well be Forest Dons.

Nobody wants to leave the City Ground, that is a given, but I fear you're a marked man/woman/they/beast now because - I believe - you're a Long Eatoner. A shame, one of this forums favourite Sons is one of those yet I'm led to believe he's had enough and is giving the place a wide berth nowadays. This very thread may well sum up exactly why.
That is incorrect, so please stop repeating it.

And stop having subtle digs at other members, OK? Everyone is entitled to an opinion on here, whether it chimes with yours, or anyone else’s, is irrelevant.

It was only last year Marinakis was talking about how much of an appeal this is and how it's used to sell the club to new signings. Now we want to detach ourselves and become another generic soulless club that does exactly what everyone else does except worse

We really do have an identity crisis

As for those who won’t step foot inside another Forest ground a few miles away no matter what then they’re not Forest supporters but just folk who like a day out in West Bridgford.
As for those who are content to lie on their backs and be teabagged by an owner with no connection to our great city and club, they are definitely not Forest supporters.
The ground is part of our fabric, it's what makes us proud every time we drive over Trent Bridge, it's the bars around the ground where we meet our mates, where we know people from who we would never normally cross paths with, it's where our memories are and where new ones are made, it allows bars and restaurants to exist putting money back into Nottingham, it's ours and the current custodians can fukc off if they think that the vast majority of proper Forest fans will stand for them playing out their dreams at our expense.
What a ridiculous and condescending post @Quntib Hollox I thought you were better than that, I really did.

Not trying to be argumentative but Forest moved from their original home which was a lot closer to where I lived in Nottingham originally. My mum went to the all girls school next to the Forest recreation ground. Also Forest play out of the city currently which is why County gives us all the stick. I am being pedantic with that though cause I know its just out of the boundary but its basically there.

So I dont agree with that sentiment entirely, the City Ground does mean a lot to me so there are serious red lines in what I deem acceptable. It cant be a flatpack bowl like the king power or pride park. It needs to be terraced as far as I am concerned. It cant be longer than 15 mins via public transport into town. Ideally be on the banks of the trent again. I was looking myself yesterday at potentional sites and I havent lived in Nottingham for 20 years so I havent a clue if this is viable but if you could link it with a Tram. It could be nice. However anyone feel free to shoot me down on that as I know feck all about Weir sports ground.

Also I voted in the poll to stay at the WFCG with expanded BC and PT stand. I want to stay more than anything but I am not closed off to moving if my preference isnt viable. At the end of the day we need more seats.

Wes I hear completeley which is why I say any relocation must be somewhere where it will stir the same feelings inside for you. Yes it wont be the WFCG but if it is a beautiful location on the banks of the trent again and built like a terraced stadium with proper red brick, than it can stir some of the emotions again. I want to stay Wes more than anything but currently a whole chunk of Forest fans myself included cant enjoy Forest and the WFCG anyway as we cant get tickets. So something needs to be done.

Build the new stand. 34k will be plenty other than when the big boys come to town and I have no interest in accommodating the tourists who only want to come for the big games.

Again, the club belongs to Nottingham and its people, I dont need a history lesson mate, postcode introductions in the 50s mean nothing to any Forest fan.

Putting a club on the outer most point of its core fanbase and as close to another city centre as your own is not acceptable, its basically franchising and the club will die.

If a move is to happen then they will simply have to find a location in the City, otherwise stay.

I dont want to hear any more silly talk about Toton, do I make myself clear? 😀

The harsh reality is that the club is owned by Evangelos Marinakis and Socrates Kominakis, and the people of Nottingham, and beyond, are it's customers.

On the financial scale clubs now operate at we, the supporters, can't even use the 'I pay the wages' line you could trot out in the 80s... they'll have been years recently where we've barely covered the agent fees.

Five years of lower mid table Premiership, and some of the buzz is going to disappear, and then zero chance we fill a 50,000 seater stadium. Also if you include corporate facilities and a hotel, who wants to go to Toton, nobody. Just have one les squad player and the saving on wages covers what the council wants, even before any negotiation.

Is this the only reason he got the position of chairman, to facilitate this move???

On what basis have you deemed it to be "incorrect"?

I'm not going to repeat what's been said to me privately as it wouldn't be fair on the individual himself (and it isn't just him that's turned away, there are a few others) . . . he's more than capable of putting his own point across; I hope he'll do so at some point and clear things up for those that miss seeing his posts. One of us will be proved to be *incorrect*, no doubt.

As for having subtle - or otherwise - digs at other members, you'd do well to remember that when you moderate this forum, call it out when you see it consistently rather than just with those you fancy butting up against . There's a reason - a reason that rings with truth - that this place has gone down hill and is full of gobshites, bullies, hypocrites, piss takers . . . . and that's on you.

I don't care for, take any notice of or heed your chiding or commandeering of this forum as your own personal fiefdom of opinions so do as you see fit on reading this. No skin off my nose, Strum.

OK?

They would do well to remember what football was like during COVID. Players and club officials alike soon realised that football was nothing without the supporters. Something that seems to have been quickly forgotten.

Yup, because money. The modern game is an abomination off the pitch, on it is quite fun though. I'd still take pre sky football any day of the week, though we had no greater control back then in reality, it was just more within the reach of 'normal' rich people.

Wes I think we need 40k + if we want to have lower ticket prices. Economics of scale. I live in Chester I can only make like 5-10 per season even if I could get tickets. The current state of the capacity has basically killed any fan like me dreams of going to a few games per season. Especially at reasonable prices. I think we need between 40k-50k so we can get low ticket prices. If we follow the German model of clubs we can make good money. Also if tickets were like 15 quid and we were in the champ and top half we’d easily get 40k I reckon.
