Makes sense. We need 3 good goalkeepers at the club. Otherwise it's one injury away from no cover and two injuries away from disaster.

I don’t think Johnstone is a significant upgrade on Sels and having two keepers ‘fighting’ for the jersey rarely works.

Sels did well. He’s our number one, back him.

Turner is OK as cover and Miguel is coming in and might shove him down to third choice.

There’s also something about bringing Sels him, he essentially rescuing our season and then us dumping him in the reserves 6 months after he arrived. If we are doing that it needs to be a proper upgrade

Sels & Miguel are more than enough. I have a strong feeling Miguel will be our number one by Xmas & a legend in the making by May.

I'm not sure many teams have 3 REAL quality keepers- even in the PL.

And if we do sell Turner & need a 3rd........don't be ****in daft & spend £20m on him.....

£12m-£15m would be closer to the value IMO.
Probably a better keeper than Sels but spending 15m on a keeper at this point with so many obviously more pressing issues would be daft for such a nominal gain.

I don’t get the drum beat for spending 15m on Johnstone or 30m on Kelleher neither of which I don’t think have really shown a deal more than Sels who cost 3m or whatever it was. Sels might not be the glam signing but he is more than capable at this level and for what we need

I doubt this guy really fits the profile of the type of player we’re interested in now. 15m (if it is that) on a 31yo keeper who doesn’t even start would be a bit daft, especially in this era.

I actually think Sels has been really good too. He passes the eye test in terms of what we need.

However, what is odd is that statistically he graded out no better than Turner. Didn’t make the major mistake's as frequently. granted.

So maybe we do keep Sels. We will soon find out how much Nuno rates our GK situation.

This is a prime example of why stats aren’t everything.

No stat can really explain the sheer terror in Turner’s eyes nor the waft of shit from his pants whenever he was passed the ball to feet

Turner is not ok as cover, he's f***ing hopeless at pretty much every aspect of goal keeping.

He cost 10m apparently so he's way too expensive if nothing else. Who knows what his wage bill is.

If Sels is staying first choice and the Brazilian lad is coming in as back up we might just be able to get away with selling Turner as well and having Aaron Bott as third. He doesn't take up a squad place as he's too young.

We don't need Johnstone at all.

That we are talking about 19 year old Aaron Bott as third choice suggests we do need another keeper, regardless of whether that's Johnstone.

I see the argument here but how many times does the effective third choice keeper get to play? It would need the first and second choices to be injured and/or suspended.

Keepers don't get injured or sent off that often really so if this was a route we did go down I don't think Bott would get much more than the odd game sat on the bench.

Though it'd be very Forest for there to be a spell where Sels broke something and then Miguel got sent off for shithousing and then we'd be playing the third choice...

The two obvious benefits are:
- Bott's age means we wouldn't need to register him to use him so we could give that place to another outfielder
- we could spend the money getting in a 3rd choice on other areas of the squad
