I personally think Johnstone is a better keeper than Henderson.
Tom Lawrence liked this postI think we should pump the brakes on expectations re Miguel for this season.
SelsMakes sense. We need 3 good goalkeepers at the club. Otherwise it's one injury away from no cover and two injuries away from disaster.
Agreed-assuming Miguel is at the required standard of course.Sels
Miguel
Turner
We won't get silly money for Turner so spunking £20m on Johnstone is daft. Even if we do get rid of Turner I think a cheaper option would be preferable.
Who knows any more?We won't get silly money for Turner
£12m-£15m would be closer to the value IMO.Johnstone wouldn’t be £20m
Probably a better keeper than Sels but spending 15m on a keeper at this point with so many obviously more pressing issues would be daft for such a nominal gain.£12m-£15m would be closer to the value IMO.
I actually think Sels has been really good too. He passes the eye test in terms of what we need.Probably a better keeper than Sels but spending 15m on a keeper at this point with so many obviously more pressing issues would be daft for such a nominal gain.
I don’t get the drum beat for spending 15m on Johnstone or 30m on Kelleher neither of which I don’t think have really shown a deal more than Sels who cost 3m or whatever it was. Sels might not be the glam signing but he is more than capable at this level and for what we need
This is a prime example of why stats aren’t everything.I actually think Sels has been really good too. He passes the eye test in terms of what we need.
However, what is odd is that statistically he graded out no better than Turner. Didn’t make the major mistake's as frequently. granted.
So maybe we do keep Sels. We will soon find out how much Nuno rates our GK situation.
Turner is not ok as cover, he's f***ing hopeless at pretty much every aspect of goal keeping.I don’t think Johnstone is a significant upgrade on Sels and having two keepers ‘fighting’ for the jersey rarely works.
Sels did well. He’s our number one, back him.
Turner is OK as cover and Miguel is coming in and might shove him down to third choice.
There’s also something about bringing Sels him, he essentially rescuing our season and then us dumping him in the reserves 6 months after he arrived. If we are doing that it needs to be a proper upgrade
We need somebody to boost the attackers confidence in training when they’re scoring from all over the place.Turner is not ok as cover, he's f***ing hopeless at pretty much every aspect of goal keeping.
He cost 10m apparently so he's way too expensive if nothing else. Who knows what his wage bill is.Turner is not ok as cover, he's f***ing hopeless at pretty much every aspect of goal keeping.
That we are talking about 19 year old Aaron Bott as third choice suggests we do need another keeper, regardless of whether that's Johnstone. He cost 10m apparently so he's way too expensive if nothing else. Who knows what his wage bill is.
If Sels is staying first choice and the Brazilian lad is coming in as back up we might just be able to get away with selling Turner as well and having Aaron Bott as third. He doesn't take up a squad place as he's too young.
We don't need Johnstone at all.
I see the argument here but how many times does the effective third choice keeper get to play? It would need the first and second choices to be injured and/or suspended. That we are talking about 19 year old Aaron Bott as third choice suggests we do need another keeper, regardless of whether that's Johnstone.
Yeah, based on what I have seen he won't be number 2 for very long if not at all.Is quite like to see the Brazilian keeper prove himself before we think he’s a #2 PL standard keeper.
