In the Percy article apparently, can’t access that so no idea how vague the link was.

Nottingham Forest may reignite bid to sign Crystal Palace keeper Sam Johnstone

Of course this positive PSR update also affords Forest some freedom in terms of who they bring in, given they may no longer be chasing replacements for the stars they sell.

And to that end, the same report has stated that Forest are now considering a renewed bid for Crystal Palace keeper Sam Johnstone.

Very good keeper and one tried and tested at PL level. It all depends on the numbers Involved. I would have thought you would be talking in the region of £20M for him though.

Yeah, sounds like 15m was mentioned in January, perhaps as the starting point of discussions.

Maybe a player swap with Niakhate?

Is he really much better than Sels?

It'd also be pretty shitty to dump Sels or drop him to second choice, 6 months after signing. Especially for what is, at best, a very small upgrade.

We have used 6 different "first choice" Keepers since our promotion so another one is hardly going to be noticed is it?

The rest of them either failed, or were on loan.

Treating Sels like that, for a very minor benefit, after he played a key role in keeping us up, would be a pretty shit situation. It's not like an outfield player where they can play a different role or wait to be rotated in. He's either sold six months after upending his life to come here, or he's rotting on the bench.

It also just seems like a low priority unless it's a truly top drawer keeper coming in (Ramsdale, Pope etc)

Don’t think Nick Pope is considered top drawer now.

I agree, he's 31 so profiles too similar to Sels. The Brazilian giant makes much more sense. I know we might need a third keeper but an under 21 would make most sense there.
Bento would be the Brazilian keeper to chase.

Jack Burkitt
More expensive than Carlos Miguel though presumably. A cheap up and comer makes most sense to me.

I'm in the cheaper up and coming camp too. Yes he's a good keeper but dropping another £20M on another goalie while we've got Sels seems like a waste and probably demoralising for Sels.

If one of the Brazilians comes in and performs to win the spot then that's fine and it will be £10-£15M cheaper

Yeah im thinking the same, he is similar age to Sels and articles saying that we are trying to reduce the age of the squad and surely Sels wont want to be here if they bring in another keeper thats the same profile as him

Refers to us signing two keepers, extract from yesterday's Telegraph article below:

"Forest will look to add a number of new signings ahead of the new season, with two goalkeepers likely to join...Corinthians goalkeeper Carlos Miguel was regularly scouted last season, while Forest have also considered a renewed move for Sam Johnstone, Crystal Palace’s England international".

It's sound logic really. Sign a team of keepers then draw every game 0-0.

38 points keeps you up so it's genius.

The Brazilian lad makes sense as he's still young and it's low risk, similar situation to Scarpa. He is also f***ing huge so would probably be able to get crosses (though Pants).

Johnstone makes no sense unless we're looking to move Sels on too. Which in turn makes no sense.

Neither Sels nor Johnstone will be coming to be reserve after all

Seems mad going for two - Maybe there's low confidence in Sels or there's an issue with him?

Ah, but what about the inevitable points deduction?

Then, you need Snookers, or Jimmy Glass.

just rumors, there's also one that forest is going after ventura, unless we are going to field a team of keepers, i doubt there's much to this.

Is he even that good? Didn't Palace want 15m in Jan?

What's the Sar situation now, not that I am saying he's the one to go for.

Rather than keep spending on keepers, either go for an undisputed top talent or stick with Sels.
