Would love to see that, with Scarpa getting a complete free role.

Got to hope some of the walking dead are back for this; I wouldn't be confident of a win with the same starting 11 as yesterday.
I'd be injecting Aurier with every painkiller we can...

Seriously though I'm assuming Yates is back and Lingard looked bright in his cameo so I'd put them both in.

Yates
Shelvey
Freuler

Johnson
MGW
Lingard

watched a little of the last everton match against villa, they had good chances but they didn't take it , got sucker punched with the 2 goals. unfortunately , we have worrall in the middle, you don't need world class strikers , even a championship level striker is good enough against a championship level defender like worrall who's good at playing a cone when someone runs at pace at him.

At one point (Tottenham I think) it looked as though the BJ - MGW - Lingard combo could work nicely. Hopefully can see that click again
I think this'll be what we go for. Wood, at West Ham, was clearly a 'hold it up, relieve some pressure' option that just didn't work. Three forward runners of Lingard, Johnson and MGW would offer us much more. MGW and Lingard can also drop back deeper without too much discomfort.

Yatesy, I hope, will be on the bench but I don't he's match ready yet. The big question will be Colback or Mangala in the middle.

Dyche will know MGW and Johnson are our two main threats - time for Lingard to shine

Yep, we've played our best football when those 3 have been leading the attack.

I would start with them and then bring on a Surridge or Wood later on if we need a focal point.

So many worries to fill the week ahead. Not least the fact that Everton are themselves moaning about their form. West Ham spent the week doing the same and it didn't seem to affect their game.

Also Wood. Just that, whither Wood? In or out? Surely not in after his ineffective forays so far when starting.

The midfield, due a shake up, we need defensive midfielders who defend and attacking midfielders who attack. Hmm.

And the defence. Am I alone in hoping that the defence tightens up? No use hoping for injured players to come back, because they will be so rusty they just won't be able to get up to speed in time.

OK, that's got that out of the way. Now is the time for Coops to rise to the occasion, show us last week was an aberration and we are much better than that. Let's put Everton to the sword and smile again.

Take your pick with the central midfield three, Id go with that on current form.

Wood out is a given, so Dennis or Scarpa will do for me.

We're desperately missing Yates and Awonyi. Without Awonyi we only seem to have an outlet/threat down the right side. Everton might come too soon for him so I'd play lingard left side front 3, and definitely play Scarpa. Really fancied Scarpa to open his account at West ham so was disappointed to see him on the bench and us set up so defensively. Chris wood coming off the bench if indicated please...

This feels like a pivotal match. Win, and we're one foot in one foot in the PL again next season; lose, and we're right back in the relegation dogfight.

A draw wouldn't be a disaster, IMO, but it would probably mean we'd need to find an away win again.

Everton have got to travel down to London to face Arsenal on Wednesday night. That's got to play in our favour, while we have a whole eight days to prepare.

I'm hoping Aurier can be back for this, but it might be one game too soon, alas. Yates seems to be close, and Lingard has just returned, so we've got a few options in the middle again.

My team:

Navas
Williams
Worrall
Felipe
Lodi
Yates
Freuler
Shelvey
Gibbs-White
Lingard
Johnson

Bench:
Hennessey
Toffolo
Colback
Mangala
Scarpa
Danilo
Surridge
Wood
Ayew

Typing that out really hits home how short we are on reinforcements at the back.

Think thats our best shape, Id play Lingard left side, but If Scarpa or Dennis showed up there Id get it.

Harsh as it sounds, the single biggest short term fix is to drop Wood. Get back to playing with 11 men with viable attacking options down both sides.

Must win this, or face having to target unrealistic options for points.

I'd still go Colback unless Yatesy is 100% fit. Or Mangala...

Everton, Wolves and Southampton at home are all must win now IMO. I just don't see us picking up wins from the other home fixtures, and we are so poor away from home that realistically we aren't going to win another away game this season.

I'm surprised at how many are picking Lingard to start considering he's only played 10 minutes in the last couple of months.

I would play Wood in this one personally.

Reason being Everton are probably gonna be sat deep, for me this is a game we are gonna need an out and out striker where when we do get in and around the box he will need to be occupying players. I don't think it'll be a game where we are gonna be attacking with our swift counter attacks which has where he has looked out of place.

At the end of the day, the guy has been given no service apart from the Man City chance (and almost scored an identical one against Fulham had the Fulham defender not got a toe on it). On that Garibaldi podcast Fletch mentioned he was talking to Dyche at half time when we signed him & he said most people get the wrong end of the stick with Wood (pun haha) and that he is more of a poacher than anything else & has a knack of being in the right place when the chances come. No better way than to prove his old manager right.

Surridge it is then 😁

I really hope Niakhate is fit, if he is I think we should switch back to a back 3 to give Neco support defensively and enable him to play his more natural RWB position.
If Lodi is injured, I would rather Colback at LWB than Toffolo.

Navas
Worrall Felipe Niakhate
Williams Shelvey Freuler Lodi
Lingard
MGW Johnson

No chance Freuler does not play but I would admire the bravery of playing Danilo instead. Naturally I am worried about this match, Dyche will know us better than most as he has watched pretty much all our home games, Everton will be ready. Would be nice for Forest not to do a Forest and to bring the 3 points home!
