Depends on what the plan is that he has to follow,he was pivotal in the equaliser against City.
how so ? because he pass back ? might as well say worrall or freuler was pivotal as well, the only player that move the ball forward was williams to gibbs white, otherwise it might have the same pointless side to side passing by the defenders before a long punt upfront by navas if every player just pass it back

Kind of a weird one to reflect on. A win would have been massive, especially given we'd still have a game in hand on Everton. Really feels like an opportunity wasted as Everton are clearly desperately poor.

Prior to the game, what scared me the most was going behind at any point given Dyche's ability to shithouse wins and close out games so, having gone behind twice, managing to come out with a draw leaves me feeling relieved more than anything.

The nature of the goals we gave away though was incredibly frustrating - basically gave a team who can't score for shit two goals.

Just had a re-watch of the game on the old telebox as my emotions do tend to cloud my judgement at the match itself!

Walking to the ground discussing team opinions I thought this was the perfect game to get Danilo in to compete with the size and athleticism of Onana and Doucoure. Couldn’t fathom why he and Scarpa had been completely left out the squad (unless I missed any fitness updates?!) and I didn’t much fancy our one-paced (that pace being slow) midfield three again. Also grumbled at Wood once again getting the start again his former “Bonleh” gaffer and chums. But what do I know Mr Cooper - time to get behind whoever gets the shirts…

Can’t really argue with the result. Thought Forest were really disappointing out the blocks in the first half. Perhaps a tad unfortunate to be behind at the break having scored a really nice goal with the one real move of quality we’d mustered. But overall lost too many second balls, gave away too many cheap fouls for them to lump at us. Rather played into Everton’s hand tbh.

Second half was better in that Forest had more bite to their challenges and took the game to the Scousers. A lot of huffing and puffing, not enough made of the possession we had but nobody could deny we were more than worthy of the equaliser

Thank God for Brennan Johnson. Every time he got booted into the Main Stand I held my breath, hoping he’d get up again. If we lose him for any length of time that trapdoor could start to get uncomfortably close. He’s a difference maker and took both his goals brilliantly well

Overall an opportunity missed but I had this down as a must not lose, rather than must win

Navas (6) Nothing he could really do about the goals. Other than that only really had to deal with a wayward Felipe back pass

Aurier (5) Decent last 20 minutes but gave the ball away a lot first half and bar one good cross first half managed to give Pickford substantial catching practice when in good positions

Lodi (7) Decent overall. Was often free first half but not found. Cool, classy defending second half winning most battles with Gray and co

Wozza (6) Average first half. More solid second. Too many diagonals at least one club light.

Felipe (7) Average first half. Well beaten in the air for the first header on their second goal. Good second half. Carried the ball out from the back with purpose and confidence

Colback (6) I like Jack. I do. He’s filled in well once again when called upon. But he shouldn’t be starting for us in this league. Got stuck in as you’d expect but when you’ve got him AND Freuler in the side that’s a lot of midfield doing not much

Shelvey (6) Mixed bag. A few highlight reel passes which switched play or got us moving but just as many were off target. Sloppy for the pen.

Freuler (6) Think he’ll get a 6 every week. Which some people clearly love. I don’t. Told I’d notice the difference if he wasn’t there. We took him off. We scored.

MGW (7) often involved in our brighter moments as per. Think we need someone more mobile than Wood to give him back the space he had thrived in not so many weeks ago

Wood (6) Didn’t think he was totally useless like the first three starts. Played a nice part in the first goal. Just think we are a worse side with him in it

Johnson (8.5) Two great finishes, almost a third late on. Took kick after kick after kick from Dyche’s henchmen but got up time and time again to save us what could be a valuable point come the end of season. Getting better all the time

Subs: Dennis (5) Must have some incriminating photos of Cooper to keep getting game time ahead of Surridge, Ayew (6) Managed to get upfield a couple of times. Shame Johno slipped after the cross shot, Yates (7) Great to have him back, impacted with the assist. Bust a gut to make a last man clearance. Standard stuff from our Ryan!

Cooper (5) Too safe, cautious a side (midfield) to face an Everton team almost as bad away from home as us. Sticking with the Chris Wood plan worries me too.

Still need to maintain a point per game to make sure we are safe. Others have to do considerably better than that. No need to panic. Onto the next…
Colback was directly at fault for the penalty as he completely dithered instead of putting his boot through it.

Wondered if Navas could have done more with the second. I think the debate as to who is No.1 when Henderson is back has become closer to call.

right , easy to blame everything on wood, mgw has been poor for the past few games not because of wood, crap freekick/corners, getting dispossessed easily, fancy flicks not going anywhere, he got 1 or 2 things right in the entire match but majority, he got it wrong. Wood has nothing to do with it , mgw will have to play himself back to form as games will comes in thick and fast
Agreed, a lot of people seem to think MGW can do no wrong. He has not been good enough the last 2 matches so hopefully normal service will be resumed at Spurs.

I agree it's not a clear cut decision for Cooper. Navas has been good amd has done nothing wrong but I don't recall him doing anything I wouldn't expect Henderson to do. His distribution is probably better but that's about it.

I don't thinhe could. Doucoure's header was perfect with the ball into the ground, making it almost impossible for Navas to save.

Think Navas gets caught a bit in two minds about whether to come for it or not. Potentially could have saved it but at such short distance it's hard to tell.

Not going to blame him because the defending prior to it was f***ing dreadful. Felipe getting caught under the ball, Freuler ball watching...
