I like Taylor. He has been well under used. 15 starts and 24 sub appearances, scored 4 goals in those starts only played a total of 1719 minutes out of 4140.

He played just over half the season in a team mostly playing shit.

And it's all his fault.

Not at all but he came with a reputation of having scored goals - But what's the terminology ? '' Didn't do what it said on the tin ''

Ill remember him for trying to close fullbacks down when he was never going to get anywhere near them. I'll remember him for marking centre backs, getting in a pickle and falling over.

I'll remember him taking 10 touches to try and control a ball under no pressure and playing it wide and spinning to get in the box.

I'll remember him being utter gash for us.

This is all my opinion and views of course. The rest of the team have been wank in the main this last season. But we needed goals and this guy isn't a 2nd division level footballer by any stretch of any imaginations.

Imo

I was going to post an opinion on how little we create & how a lack of sustained game time may have hampered Taylors time here.

Have to say though, theres more than an element of truth in the above observation. He does run alot of blind alleys, fall down easy, spurn the odd sitter & whinge like f***.

Replacing with better shouldnt be too difficult.

I probably won’t remember him, but if I did, I’d remember him bitching a lot.

And that he’s a Tory.

I liked him as a bloke and still think he was a perfectly fine freebie signing for Lamouchi.

The fact that he had a whole 165 league minutes under Lamouchi before he was sacked says it all though  Not even 2 full games before the plan went out the window (again)

Scored 2 for Montserrat yesterday btw.

I'll remember after scoring against Cardiff in the cup he told us via radio interview post-game that he had done his own research on what happened at the Capitol riot, but wasn't going into it.

Big tease. The Capitol riot according to Lyle Taylor would probably have been one of the highlights of the season.

Yeah, I think I followed him for about a week on social media before he posted some vaguely anti-vax stuff and that was enough for me. Sure he's a nice chap outside of all that stuff though.

I don't think the plan was for him to replace Grabban though. He was another option and one that could provide competition. After his recent seasons and on a free transfer it was absolutely a great idea to go for him, as we'd been complaining all the year prior about not having another proven goal scorer at this level to go with Grabban.

Taylor is a decent player and given time in a side that creates chances he will be an asset. To me he's another one who didn't hit the ground running, but before people rush to shove him out the door I'd just remind them of the amount of players we called dead wood and wanted rid of before they settled in and became indispensable. Ben Watson and David Johnson spring to mind.

And we still haven't properly replaced Watson

He might do really well there and make us look mugs. He wouldn't be the first, or the last.

I think he'll do fine there, and in a side which will probably finish above us. Amazing ho so many of those "not good enough for Nottingham Forest" end up playing higher than us. Hughton obviously never liked him. That was clear from how he was treated as soon as Grabban was remotely close to fit. Pretty certain it reflected in Taylor's performances ultimately too.

Hope Hughton has some good ideas for replacements.

That could end up being proven right yet.

Once Hughton has trimmed the squad, I hope the next few years sees some more stability so that both managers and fans can feel more comfortable giving players time again. I certainly now that since EM's regime has cycled so many players so quickly, I've adapted into judging them faster too, always mindful they'll be out the door if they don't shine in the first few months.

I thought he was an average player, a bellend of a bloke, and Forest are well rid.

Especially if we get a fee!

Sky said in commentary early on in the season that Taylor himself had said he was told he would play alongside Grabban. By then Lamouchi had gone, Hughton tried it once and Derby ran Forest ragged.

I wonder if Lamouchi was thinking about an eventual move to 3-5-2 in that case? He didn’t sign any wingers did he?

We’ll never know....

This is constantly the problem though isn't it

We bring in players to fit the current manager's plans, then sack said manager and bring in someone else with different plans
