Lyle James Alfred Taylor

And a penalty against the Sheep behind closed doors? Or was it Coventry?
He scored against Coventry first game of last season I think?

Brennan cross. I may be imagining it. I'll need to look again but I'm sure that's right and we ended up losing 2-1 in the end. 2 late goals from Cov.

I think you're right Rocka. Taylor was doing alright pre-season and Cafu scored a great free-kick too.

But it's a ruthless business once you get to the Premier League these days.

We told ourselves 'We don't need cheerleaders, we need quality'. But what we really should have been saying is 'We don't need cheerleaders, we need winners'....

Absolutely.

Taylor was a victim of circumstance. If he’s still here next season and not on the squad then you may have a point.
He played 39 times in his first season and scored 4 times.
He played 18 times last season and scored 3 times before going out on loan.

He's not here next season, his deal ends in June.

Wasn't Taylor on a free?
He was and I think he was a great piece of business because those 2 last minute goals against Bristol City were priceless.
"Free" isn't quite true since we were paying him £20k a week BEFORE we got promoted, i'd wager he got a bump when we went up so that's at least £2m.

Could have probably got himself a move in the summer, but no one be able to come close to what we're paying him, hence the dreadful business. Literally giving him at least 20 grand a week to occasionally play U23s football.

Don't worry about the ridiculous wages folks. We've got the gestapo checking adults aren't using junior tickets on match days, we're well covered. 😉

How do they actually work that though? I mean it's obvious sometimes if an adult's using a kid's ticket but if it's actually a kid who looks a bit older but is the right age, do they need to take proof of age to show they're 13 or whatever?

Exactly that. He's always come across as a team player. Same as Cafu. They all bought into the project and tried to work hard for it.

They might not have had the same talent as the others, but they gave it their all. That's all you can ask from a professional footballer.

It's weird how some will claim Taylor was a terrible piece of business because despite being a free and a liked member of the team he ultimately didn't contribute a lot on the pitch and didn't justify his wages.

And yet this forum spent most of this winter extolling the benefits Lingard was bringing to the squad for his dressing room presence...

I cannot really understand anyone criticising the signing of Lyle Taylor, because you can’t say he never gave anything less that 100% when he played for Forest?

Yes, he wasn’t the second coming of Stan Collymore (who is!) but he was always committed and put a shift in, unlike some who’ve disgraced the Garibaldi in recent seasons.

The comparison to be made between Arter and Taylor is that they were both bought in by Lamouchi, who was fired shortly after. Things could have been different for both players had that not been the case, though Taylor has contributed for us as others have pointed out.

Lyle Taylor looks like he's always wanted to play and has made himself available for selection. Same as Cafu.

Very rarely injured. It hasn't been for the want of trying on their parts.

Whether you can apply the same thinking for some other players in the squad is another question.

Indeed, the first away trip after COVID-a right kick in the crutch as Samba somehow late the ball slip through his grasp deep into injury time.

Can't remember who it was now actually claimed Lingard had justified his wage for his off the field presence. There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Hmm not sure if anyone can score at Wednesday. I'm watching their game now with a fan of theirs.
the bar is pretty low as Ashley Fletcher currently starts for them and i'm pretty sure some goalkeepers have scored more than him in their careers

I’m sure I’ve just seen him on a dog walk near Burton Joyce so I guess he’s not got a new team. Although he’d make a good pundit, assuming pundits are allowed to shit house!

AFAIK, didn't get a new team but is still playing for Montserrat. He got a red card in the last match against Nicaragua.

He was living in Southwell. Nice bloke to have a chat too and always gave 100% for us. Don’t forget Bristol away either.

I thought Lyle was living up around Spring Lane, Gedling.
Still waiting for a new team to sign him up.
If he likes the area, with the golden hello he allegedly got when he signed, he can probably put quality of life ahead of playing for more money.

Seen him in Sainsbury’s at Colwick a few times, so assume he’s living in that neck of the woods.
