Lyle James Alfred Taylor

Derby couldn't afford Lyle's wages, and there would be numerous Championship clubs interested in signing him on a free should we terminate his contract (as much as he was a bad fit here, he showed he was decent at that level at both Charlton and Birmingham).

For me the 2 goals last season at Bristol City was akin to Blackstock scoring against the same side all those years before. The importance of those victories shouldn't be underestated. Taylor has always come across well and articulate, hope he gets a decent move this window.
Same. Seems a decent bloke and he'll do well somewhere. I'm sure a decent Championship side will take him on.

Last place I want him to go is Derby - I still remember the Lyle Taylor that tore us (and many more) a new one for Charlton, and who scored that brace at Bristol City that went a long way towards where we are now.

There's a good championship goalscorer in there. Not for us perhaps, but how many times as a club have we bought in a striker with a decent record to watch then fail with us? Lots I'd say. He was a Sabri signing who never really got to play under him - could have been a different story.
I guess I'm just not convinced that same player is still there.

Ultimately - he's about to turn 33, wasn't included in the 25 man squad, has a contract about to expire in the summer, and hasn't played a competitive game since May last year. In that scenario, I'd expect a player to be desperate to leave and to have been talking to the club through November and December, with a view to signing a loan deal somewhere dead on January 1st - the sooner he can get involved with a first team the sooner he can get back up to match speed and stand a chance of making an impact somewhere this season. Yet so far at least I don't think there's been any credible rumours of anything.

Surprised to see any ill feeling towards him...comes across well in interviews and is a decent professional by all accounts. The two goals v Bristol will be remembered for a long time. Pivotal moment last season. Hope he finds a decent club.

He's perfectly suited for Derby. For me, an embarrassment of a player.

And that's fair - my earlier response was more to the call of him being an embarrassment, which I think is harsh.

For me he's been a victim of a managerial change again - he did well at Brum under his old boss Bowyer, though when he lost his job the chances of the move materialising went.

Decent enough lower-end Championship striker so I'd be surprised if the Sheep got him as he could do better. Location might be key though.

Not worked for him here but I don't think that's a reflection of his attitude. He was on the concourse near me at Wembley posing for selfies for about 25 mins before the game and seemed like a nice fella. He was also on the pitch celebrating with the players at the end which would be easy to avoid if you've been shunted out on loan.

There's a video on YouTube of every goal we scored last season and you'd be amazed by how many Taylor is either involved with or is just on the pitch for so I'd say his overall contribution is probably under-rated last season as it was the 2nd half with Davis and Surridge where we really kicked on.

Suppose it makes sense he's starting to put a shift in, needs to find himself a new club in the summer.
Mental that he was a bit part player last year, we get promoted, he gets a raise and spends this season having his weekends off.

We wanna talk shite business, him and Arter are up there.

Taylor was a victim of circumstance. If he’s still here next season and not on the squad then you may have a point.

Though Taylor contributed on and off the pitch last year, I've got nothing against him getting this season in the sun and his promotion bonus. He scored some important goals and didn't seem to be a problem when he dropped out of favour. He has some good initiatives off the pitch and wish him all the best for his next move.

Exactly that. He's always come across as a team player. Same as Cafu. They all bought into the project and tried to work hard for it.

They might not have had the same talent as the others, but they gave it their all. That's all you can ask from a professional footballer.
