Bridcutt's found himself in the same situation as he was when he left Leeds where he's down the pecking order and he's still got the quality to start in this league for a mid-table team.
I'd compare Tachtsidis to Bouchalakis but Bouchalakis actually got a few games last year. I can't honestly see him playing ahead of Gued/Colback/Yacob/Watson/Bridcutt. Seems like we sign these players to put them in the shop window for Olympiakos.
Goncalves might go depending on whether we can cancel his loan. We do need a fast winger with better end product and I wouldn't be surprised if that's where Karanka strengthens in January. Lolley, Cash, Dias and Osborn are all ahead of him right now.

Henderson should go and should of gone in the summer but we couldn't find him a home. Probably a League 1 standard keeper now.
Smith is another one that's probably League 1 standard. Steele is the cup keeper and Pantilimon is clearly Karanka's #1.
Ariyibi.. If there is a pecking order, he isn't even on it. He's been here 22 months and never so much as come close to the first team. Not sure if he knows where it is. Had the chance to go on loan back to Chesterfield to play and balked at it. Sums Fawaz's final window up.
Yates - It was always going to be a risk, keeping him here with us. Had the one opportunity at Bury but he's not getting in the team with the options we have right now. Needs games to progress.

Controversial:LOL: if it was that simple to get quality wingers in I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with some of that. I’m not having colback back to Newcastle though maxi!!

I'd keep Colback over Watson personally but one is on loan and the other isn't. If we're talking about squad reduction to free up money/squad slots for new players then we've too many centre midfielders and not enough wingers. Yacob as starter with Watson as backup is pretty damn good.

Need to be fair for Bridcutt- has some potential, but seems unable to convince when given the chance, he make some interesting decisions and doesn't get forward enough.
Ben Watson...sorry, he's really not going to add any value to this squad in the medium term, would be a great 3rd div player.
Dias..naaa, I can't see how he can develop here.
Colback I'd keep, he does get stuck in and on his day can make impact on the pitch

There's one major problem with Bridcutt - Karanka doesn't rate him, which is why he's fifth choice or so. There's no point keeping him, no matter what he does in training he isn't going to feature so we may as well shift him on for his career and our bank balance.

If a player aint gonna play for whatever reason, shift em on.

Trouble is that Henderson will have to be a contract terminated at some cost - he is so injury prone and not very good when not injured that no-one will want to take him on.
If not already done, I would cancel Byram's loan - good player but with Darikwa and Janke we heve more reliable options.
I am already thinking that Hefele is the new Danny Collins...
We don't have any left back cover (and I am an Osborn fan - but not at Left Back).
Watson can go for me - Colback and Yakob are far superior.
We need cover for Guedioura (unless Tachsiditis can fulfill that role).
I would hate to see Osborn or Cash let go, and there is no way Goncalves or Dias will be returned to their parent club.

Goncalves escapes by the skin of his teeth, purely on the premise we haven't seen enough & Dias is gone.

I'd like to see cover for Guedioura, Carvalho & Robinson coming in. Plus another direct running winger.

Thing is, can you honestly see Smith either being part of a team pushing for promotion or playing in the Premier League? He will either be a career backup/third choice or potentially get games on a more regular basis at a lower level. I'd put it to Smith and let him decide his fate.

He's 23 and a keeper though. He's got 7 years more developing before he's even in his prime.

It'd be like looking at Harewood aged 17.

All you can do is work with the now, and at 23 I'd loan him out.
