Home and Away Memberships 2023-24

What are you going for - season 23-24

At the start of the season they said that P2 Away Members had to "PURCHASE A TICKET" to at least three games in order to retain their membership, and P1 had to "PURCHASE A TICKET" to at least 14. Given that in a ballot process there's no guarantee that you'd even qualify for the chance to buy three, it's a no brainer to enter every ballot and buy every ticket you get the option for, even if you can't go (away tickets are capped at £30) - all to retain P2 Membership and, who knows, get promoted to P1.

So a) they have reaped what they've sewn, and b) they've changed the rules midway through the season.

Having said all that, I was at the game on Sunday and it didn't feel like we were 10% light, even with a load drinking in the concourse all game.

People went all the way to Brighton and then stayed in the concourse?

They use a tracked QR code on tickets.

If you scan the paper QR code with your phone, it has the same effect on the tracking system as scanning it at the turnstiles - the code is registered as having been scanned, even though it wasn't scanned by the turnstile, it was scanned by you at the kitchen table.

The upshot of such a code being scanned is that it is then immediately invalidated on the system _as if it had been scanned at the turnstile_ which means the next time it gets scanned it comes up as "already used", but this would be you at the turnstile..
Thanks, Flaggers. I was thinking that might be a possiblity but din't want to take any chances. Would hate have to do all that travelling just to mess up at the turnstiles.

Thanks again to all for their help.

Thanks for the quick replies. Always great help here.

I was a little confused because the tickets I have do have the QR codes but says something like DO Not Attempt to Scan Your Ticket From Your Phone - or something like that.

A bit confusing.
Not sure if I’m helping at all but the link to add to apple or Google wallet is on the email above the actual printable ticket.
Click that and add it and you don’t need your paper ticket. Other than that print it out and scan it at the gate
Apologies if this doesn’t help 👍

There might be a perfectly legitimate reason for non-attendance, life sometimes throws something unexpected at you and plans have to change quickly
The appalling weather must have had a certain effect.
That said-I went to Brighton 2 years ago and there were plenty of spare seats in the away section despite it supposedly being a sell out or close to it.
I think some people buy tickets for non popular games (with no intention of attending) to preserve their away membership.
Obviously that loophole has now been closed.

So we have weirdos buying Blackburn tickets and then not going to the match, and others driving to Brighton but not watching the match once they get there.

Presumably these people go to restaurants, order, pay and then leave without eating anything.

Absolute nutters.

I’ve not been able to get a ticket for a Forest game since reaching the Premier League but could get tickets for fun in the Championship.

If people are not attending when they have a ticket it’s particularly annoying for those of us who would actually like to attend.
A lot of tickets left for the Palace game, admittedly you need to fork out for a basic membership and then the ticket but all of the home games so far this season could have gone to basic membership sale and not been snapped up in the first few hours/days.

Also as a back up, take a screenshot of the QR code and send it to yourself on WhatsApp. Foolproof then mate.

There's been a lot of tickets left for most home games this season, also I think Southampton and Brighton both made general sale. You do have to buy a basic membership to purchase a ticket, which is £40. I know a couple of basic members who manage about 10 homes games a season and have even got to a couple of away games. It's not easy and you have to spend time looking for tickets on the website, but the opportunities are out there.

Forest forced people into doing that because people are frightened of not getting the minimum three tickets. If they get rid of that requirement people will only apply for games they genuinely intend to go to.
They’d been better off not selling so many away memberships when we got promotion-meaning that the away
members from the Championship and League 1 days had a far better chance of obtaining tickets.

To be honest, they shouldn’t be selling memberships (home or away) at all.

Prioritise tickets by all means. Hand out differing membership categories etc.

But charging for the privilege to maybe being able to drop large amounts for a ticket? Get in the bin.

Doesn't that turn it into a bit of a free for all and ticket touts if anyone can buy "unlimited" tickets?

People would soon moan about ticket gouging then and the club not protecting their fans.

As I said, membership and categories are fine. Base it on prior bookings. Verify ID. Limit numbers you can buy. All that is fine.

But don’t charge cash for the privilege of possibly being able to buy a ticket. How much does the club even raise through such each year? A couple of months of Jonjo Shelveys salary?

If 300 people are buying tickets to away games simply to achieve their quota for the following season rather than attend the game, then it’s right that the Club take appropriate action. There were some modest gaps in the away end at both Southampton and Brighton but not to the extent of 10% of the allocation.

Electronic admission will make it easy to identify which tickets were not used, and therefore which supporters were absent. There will be some absences for very good reason especially amongst the young and elderly supporters, and probably at short notice. Those absent for no good reason should be held to account.

But that’s the shitty system the club has put in place.

It encourages that behaviour (although I doubt it was 300).

Give the top attending 1000 the first refusal/top tier and then ballot the other 2000 between all member levels. It gives almost everyone the opportunity to go to an away game then

I, as a basic member, had a ticket in my cart for every single home game last season as well as the Newcastle and Brighton away games. I didn't go to all of those but I partly did it out of a desire to see how many tickets I could get based on how hard it was. Getting two together was very difficult, although I did that three times (Man U, Brentford and Spurs) but one was never an issue. I've had a ticket to every home game so far this season too and there are plenty left for Palace. The prices rises and the narrative that memberships are a waste because you can't get tickets seems to have spooked people, thus far I'd say tickets are much easier to get this year than last.

They are possibly gettable if you’re able to log into the Forest website at a precise time on a midweek morning.

Not everyone can do that, of course.

It really isn't that difficult if you're after single tickets. Just keep trying periodically through the days leading up to the game and you'll likely get lucky.

There's literally stacks of tickets available right now for the Palace game in the Clough Upper Strum. I never log on for the midweek morning bunfight and have still not had any problem getting tickets, whether they be resale, ones that are going unsold for longer or returns. Palace is a Monday night game on TV I grant you, but tickets are, to this point this season, much more readily available than last season.

Ticketing website playing silly buggers this morning.

How about not putting a 5 minute limit on payments on your website if it is going to spend 4 mins 45 whirring after I've put in my card details?
And once again I have no idea whether I've actually purchased tickets or not ...

I got West Ham tickets ok, although after getting the payment confirmation within 1 minute, the PDF/ticket didn't come through for 30 mins.

Mine didn't come through at all, so I had to re-send it from the account history - it eventually turned up but without the PDF attached.

On Saturday one of the guys who sits behind me in the Lower Brian Clough Stand & a long time season ticket holder had his card rejected at the turnstiles. He had to leg it round to the Main Ticket Office & wait in a queue for half an hour to get a temporary ticket for the game. The ticket office said they'll send him a new season ticket card out in the post this week. They told him it was down to a faulty chip..........although he'd got in successfully for the previous 2 home games.
