Going Back to the City Ground

Timothy Pope

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
A friend of mine is getting married this weekend, on the 4th attempt, with heavy restrictions and number limits still in place.

It's absolutely infuriating to her watching all the scenes over the last month from the Euros.

Attended my niece’s wedding on Saturday. Everyone walked into the venue wearing masks but they were soon gone. The ceremony was outside, but the meal and speeches were inside and a lot of us were rammed into a smallish room.
We left early as Mrs was unwell but there was dancing inside all night. The venue said they were unable to police it (in an encouraging way).
At the end of the day I’m glad my niece had a great wedding day, but it will be interesting to see how many folk have positive tests this week.

most fans including myself will say f*** off to masks but if they require vaccine proof then fine I'll take mine along happily.

Totally agree. It's complete and utter bollocks. I'll be there without a mask with you

That article is a bit naughty from the telegraph really because the actual article doesn't say anything like the headline.

Apparently it will only be guidance to adopt covid certification (i.e. being double-jabbed or a recent negative test) and the use of covid passports or masks won't be mandatory. So it will be down to the venue to decide.

So it appears to be going the way of anything else, nothing will be a legal requirement, people might be suggested to do certain things in certain circumstances, but there will be no obligation to do so.

Unfortunately, it's not going to be similar to if say the co-op decide to enforce (or request) masks on shoppers but Morrisons don't so everyone who doesn't want to just doesn't go to the co-op, if the club wanted to make fans wear masks in the concourses...

The double jab requirement is gonna piss off the anti vaxers so I'm on board with it
It irks me as well, to be honest. I'm not fully jabbed until September, so I can't go to things while the people who I put my life on hold for to keep safe for 18 months get to enjoy themselves.

Not sure what the current or planned system is, but it's only fair to have double jab requirements once every adult has had the opportunity to get them.

AIUI it will be double-jabbed plus 2wks or negative test. My 2nd is this month now... but yes, an 18 year old who went the day after won't be double jabbed until the end of August.

You can now move your 2nd dose to 8 wks if it was initially 12 though... Just cancel and rebook it online.

You're collateral damage PZ

Seriously though I was being a bit flippant, I'm not sure where I stand because it's unfair on people who haven't yet go their second dose & also for folk who can't get jabbed for medical reasons although in their case you'd think there would be some sort of exemption

As for the anti vaxers they can get f**ked & stay at home while I'm in the pub & down the match

There is - They will have to test negative. Like at the existing test events...

Yeah. Good spot.

Turns out it is only to be guidance. Not sure how any large scale event could even put something like that into place. Would require the event organisers to outlay great cost to be able to cover the necessary guidelines.

Not to mention the delays, queues and general chaos.

I like to think that the guidance has been left in place incase things get out of control in a local area, so they will enforce the guidance when it seems fit instead of just locking down and saying no events. Which makes complete sense to me.

Masks? What masks?
At least 90% of passengers on train heading back North from Wembley on Sunday showed no trace of face coverings.
Granted it was late but the train was rammed & I don’t see these individuals, the vast majority of which were 18-30 year olds, adhering to guidelines whatever the circumstance.

So the main takeaway from that is:

- The gov recommend Covid passports but aren’t enforcing it
- The main issue for attending a football match will be gatherings on concourses - which would probably be instantly solved by just not opening the shops there.

Let's be honest, probably more likely to catch something from the food at Forest than COVID.

The toilets are in the concourses as well though Razar, a facility which, at my age, I'd struggle to not to require the use of at some stage..

I read that the Premier League are developing a Covid passport app that will run with the NHS one.

I never bother to read these guidelines these days as they are liable to change very rapidly when the Government realise they have dropped yet another clanger.
