Everybody used to love Gareth

I don't mind Carsley having a go as caretaker for a while because for me there are no standout candidates, he has done very well at U21 level playing good football. Mentioned it before but I would love Bielsa however the FA would never go for somebody as confrontational as him.
Nah, we have to go for an absolutely elite club manager. No Nation ever won anything by promoting nobodies from the youth teams...

And if my auntie had bollocks etc….

The fact of the matter is that Southgate has achieved more than anyone in nearly 60 years. Consistently. It wasn’t one tournament. It was multiple.

And he did that from one of our lowest ebbs. The players have nothing but praise for him. So do those who have worked with him.

As I said, it was the right time for him to move on but I find this constant desire to trash his record (which is so unbelievably better than anyone before him) is pathetic.

He’s done a fantastic job.
You have to have the context though I dont think you can ignore that. Otherwise Capello has the best win rate in the history of England managers. Ive put Southgate on par with Sven so I havent trashed him. I just dont see it as black and white as "well he got to a final so he is obvioulsy better". If Sven had to play the opponents we had in Euro 2020 or WC 2018 id have backed him to get to the final and semi final respectivley.

Better to be lucky than good. Southgate was awful but kept getting the easy draws and timely goals.

Klopp would be epic, and the easier schedule might suit him after getting burned out at Liverpool. Howe maybe if he would leave Newcastle.

Klopp wants a year off and we only have the nations league coming up. So I would sell it to him as come in next summer. Than we can give Carsley caretake role for half a year to get some valued experience.

Definitely. It was time to go but he can certainly leave with his head held high and deserves a lot more respect for the job he did than he seems to be getting.

Bielsa would certainly make the team watchable but if you actually look at his career he's not won a great deal considering his god-like status. He's unpredictable too and would think nothing on walking away from the job on the eve of a tournament if there was something he wasn't happy about.

I also don't think his style would work too well in a summer tournament as there's a huge emphasis on fitness and pressing. He'd do double fitness sessions just at a time the players need to be resting. His teams tend to start seasons like a steam train but fade dramatically as they're just knackered.

If you look at Uruguay in this year's Copa America they were similar. Started brilliantly then faded.

Don't want to scare you all but Lampard is highly thought of by the FA, that being said I think you'll go for a non English option this time

Yes I fully appreciate Bielsa doesn't have a stacked trophy cabinet but he just makes you enjoy football. I fully appreciate the win at all costs people but I would rather lose having a fun time than lose in the way we have under Southgate.

Bielsa gets the god like status because everyone loves watching his sides, he has that rep despite his lack of trophies which probably says a lot.

I imagine lots of nations will try to copy Spain now. I doubt that it's a blueprint for success though - they have such a clear way of playing over there, irrespective of the manager, and most other nations don't.
