Dane Murphy - ex-CEO

I wanted a fashionable German in a turtle-neck jumper, so what do I know :ROFLMAO: .

But for those who don't have The Athletic (you should) the article on Mr Marinakis had a snippet about Murphy saying he was due a pay increase upon promotion which the club have rebuked on and he was taking legal proceedings against them. Not exactly conducive to a positive working partnership.

Hardly "went against Forest staff" did he, whoever they hired it would have been a joint decision even if they all had their preferences.

They make it sound like he went behind the owners back to hire him.

I didn't want Wilder or Cooper because I felt both were recycled managers and we have had enough of those in the past.

Which makes it quite remarkable the reports last week that Murphy was under threat of being sacked.

I actually don't agree, he can't just live off that one decision, albeit that it was an inspired one. He needs to be performing regularly well and up his game, like everyone else, now we are in the premier league. None of us actually know what he does on a day to day basis.

Yeah I think that's the thing with Murphy. Nobody actually knows what he does at the club.

We may give him too much credit or not enough - it's so hard to judge him at his job.

But the reality is most like the cut of his jib & we are now a PL side.

He seems from the outside to have the wrong job title to me. It's clear his data-driven transfer approach is behind some of our recruitment but I didn't think that came under the remit of a CEO of the football club.

You could argue that aspects of the club that aren't ideal at the moment are much more a CEOs job (tickets, commercial sponsorship, club shop) but as you say its impossible for us mere mortals to fully know what each person's role at the club is day to day.

Bloody hell, you guys are hard task masters.

I would give the freedom of the city to the bloke if they picked the managers name out of a hat had he gained promotion after a generation.

It's instructive looking at the latest betting for the West Brom job.

Who said the bookies know what they are doing? Or are they doing what the popular vote says?

Most of the people mentioned above are in that betting, plus a few left over from ancient Forest history.

If only he was all over Twitter to let us know exactly who he was talking to..

Hmmm! I like Dane Murphy, and I'll be forever grateful for his work in bringing in cooper and getting us back in the PL. That said I've no idea what he did or whether he had the experience to do it, so I've really no idea how this effects the club? From the outside looking in it has seemed for some time he'd been sidelined. His statement is a nice touch and I wish him well. Shame.

It's a HUGE blow for us IMO.

Pretty pathetic it was over a promotion bonus too.

Not sure the Greeks have what it takes to make us a proper professional club at the top level in this country. Thought they'd learned their lesson, but they shit their pants at a few defeats and people like Murphs and Scott carry the can for their lack of backbone.

Honestly, is it so hard just to have a bit of patience and pay people what they earned?

Hope they prove me wrong, but I'm braced for another Vrentroz lead transfer nightmare. Like I say, would love that not to be the case.

Murphy was instrumental in apppointing Cooper, for that we should be eternally grateful. Outside of that, its difficult to be clear what he's able to influence in the role of CEO given the owners & his sons apparent "hands on" approach.

I work on the opremise the role of CEO is all encompassing, so with recent signings having some ersious question marks & various other parts of the infastructure like ticketing ect showing little improvement. I dont think Ill lose that much sleep.

If Coopers still happy, then so am I.
