Dane Murphy - ex-CEO

Try A Little Tenderness
Couldn’t find a thread for him so started one off. Must be in a ‘New CEO’ thread or something.

Anyway, a few bits from the programme today:

Cheers Matt.

The fact that Dane even has those objectives is a sign of how badly we've been run.

Just a thought, but I expect that's why the owner recruited him to completely change the model of how we operate?

Of course. But wouldn't it have been nice if the owner was of the same mindset of myself and a few others on here, and could have seen the toss recruitment methods we were employing several years ago, and employed Dane with way more freedom to operate, and thus objectives such as "strengthen the side overperforming and sat in the playoffs tis Jan, so we can go up" instead?

Doing the right thing too late is the wrong thing.

Let's hope it's not too late.

The model the club is in the long process of adjusting to should have been adopted years before Marinakis bought the club.

Had Nigel Doughty and Mark Arthur begun the process of creating a defined club identity rather than lurching from manager-to-manager with completely opposing styles, before handing over to the al-Hasawis to continue that trend we may have possibly seen a return to the PL at some point, however briefly.

To his credit, EM has now acknowledged that a radical change was required.

Has he started yet?

August 11th, according to Companies House, so a little over a month.

Surely enough time to have scoured Football Manager for a few foreign wonderkids!

If he’s got any sense, as soon as he gets to the US, he’ll burn his passport, adopt a cunning disguise and change his name to Django Murillo.

He only met the poor lass last week on Tinder.

Anything to get out of watching/being associated with Forest.

Let’s face it, you’d probably swipe-right on any old munter at the moment if it was a viable excuse to get out of watching Forest.

Only for Forest to sign him to play right back.....

Unrelated I GUESS but:

Flights to england from SF have been INSANE! I could leave next month for 430$ round trip(pre tax), if I wasn't living with a 97 year old I think I would've taken the trip.

Better late than never to change direction. It was the inevitable consequences of the club's behaviour, including pandering to the expectations of some of our fans (who even now are criticising the club for failing to spend millions on "quality signings" and appear to not understand the basic of FFP etc.

At least EM appears to have the sense to change direction and based on discussion of the likely financial situation here and elsewhere, it's currently the only horse in town.

The club obviously can't say that this season is just about surviving, but I suspect the reality is that the target is simply to achieve a marginal improvement on last season and repeat a similar cost-cutting exercise next summer.

We're still a long way off the next set of financial results, but it will be interesting to see just how bad they actually are.

I'd hate to see them in 2 years time when/if we are in the 3rd tier.

I think he's too good for this football club.

Does anyone else sense that?

He recognises what's required and is trying hard to change things, more than anyone else has in the last 20 years.

He's miles too good for Forest. It's bizarre that he agree to join to be honest.

I don't think anyone can adequately judge him.

We have no idea what he's actually done here yet (apart from the Ojeda signing, which was obviously his punt) or been involved in, and it's difficult to say how much influence he had at Barnsley as well as they were already enacting a buy young prospect policy.

It's going to take at least a couple of years before we see how much of an influence he has.
