Dane Murphy - ex-CEO

Thank you Dane for your efforts in getting us back to the PL.

V disappointing, especially if it's true this all started from him just not being paid bonuses he was due (or allegedly due, I guess). That's some Fawaz level stuff.

Marinakis has obviously been good for us overall, but does sometimes feel like we could collapse back into the usual chaos.

Disappointed to hear that Dane is leaving - I will not speculate on the reasons, but I recognise the positive impact he had on our recruitment transfer policy in the promotion season.

The Club continues to develop despite the huge challenges of retaining PL status. Appointment of his successor is a key decision for the Club.

Dane will not be out of work for long because his qualities apply across many sports, especially in North America.

It's a HUGE blow for us IMO.

Pretty pathetic it was over a promotion bonus too.

Not sure the Greeks have what it takes to make us a proper professional club at the top level in this country. Thought they'd learned their lesson, but they shit their pants at a few defeats and people like Murphs and Scott carry the can for their lack of backbone.

Honestly, is it so hard just to have a bit of patience and pay people what they earned?

Hope they prove me wrong, but I'm braced for another Vrentroz lead transfer nightmare. Like I say, would love that not to be the case.
Promotion bonus probably the straw that broke the camels back to be fair. I didn't think he'd see Christmas with us, I think I even messaged you that in the summer Alf.

Forgetting about transfers, which I don't think Dane would've been on this window anyway because he barely had anything to do with them in the summer, the worst thing is Cooper has lost who was 100% his biggest ally at board level and as Any Time Now says, it wasn't Dane sounding out Rafa Benitez and any other manager in Europe who would listen when things were rocky.

That you did mate, and you weren't far off.

Aye, it's a f***ing shitshow again isn't it? If we go down now I can't see Cooper being here to get us back up next season.

Wouldn't be against EM selling up now tbh. He cashes in, we get someone in who pays people and doesn't shit himself at every defeat.

Hmmm! I like Dane Murphy, and I'll be forever grateful for his work in bringing in cooper and getting us back in the PL. That said I've no idea what he did or whether he had the experience to do it, so I've really no idea how this effects the club? From the outside looking in it has seemed for some time he'd been sidelined. His statement is a nice touch and I wish him well. Shame.
Nobody knows what he did. Let's see what happens.

In that podcast he did, he seemed to play down most of the stuff we all thought he did.

My main concern is now if we go on a bad run with a few defeats in a row again will the Greeks axe Cooper now his backer on the board is gone?
It's his club mate, this notion that Cooper's position is now under threat is bizarre.

He was the one who would have given him a 3 year deal, whoevers influence was or wasn't involved. EM is well known for his ability to be manipulated in his decision making of course.

All those tweets ITK seem to be Dane backers. It would be interesting to know if it really was all big bad EM and bright shiny Dane. If it really was promotion bonuses, there must have been something written down which perhaps was open to interpretation, something which means both parties are remiss. If you're going to hire lawyers, make sure they get it right first time.

However, since his arrival we seem to have had success, so that can't be simply coincidence, can it?

I wish him well in the future, but not half as much as I hope his departure has no effect on NFFC.

The sign of a strong leader.

Either Murphy is very good at his job, or everything that happened at Forest was a coincidence.

He clearly did a good job here, I just don't know what he actually did and how irreplacable he will become.

Obviously we will find out over time, but I am not sure much will change.

True but my paranoia isn't too unjustified as we know how the big man is with Managers at his other club. Hopefully as long as fan support for Cooper remains, EM will be content to stick with him.

Just to echo the comments regarding Cooper losing his biggest backer at boardroom level.

It seems when we were skint due to FFP and being towards the bottom of the championship, the owner and his son brought in Dane and his recruitment team because they had failed previously to put a successful structure in place. Now Dane has done that, helped getting the team promoted and turned the ship around, he is surplus to requirements.

As I said way back, I don't care in the slightest.

He was a CEO with no experience of running a big business, which he said so himself. No one actually knows what he did and the fact that the operational aspects of the club are piss poor and have no sign of changing is essentially down to him.

Let's just hope we appoint someone who has the all round skills to do the job and maybe there'll even be some bottled water in the stands in the summer..

Have no idea about his day to day role so I can't say I'm going to be too upset and we seem to have so much middle management the boardroom have had to borrow chairs from the canteen.

It's another reminder though if we needed it that Marinakis is a ruthless individual with lofty ambitions and a short fuse. If something isn't right it's dealt with with very little sentiment.

Thoughts come thick and fast these days.

It sort of reminds me of when I used to work and we were always having chaps coming in to manage various positions, jobs etc and the most ambitious always did just enough to get something decent on their CV then, when the going was good, they did a bit of networking and were off like a shot.

I might be doing him a disservice, but not knowing anything at all of the circumstances, I can't help but let my mind whirl and come up with odd thoughts.

Danny Taylor indicates that Lee Charnley will get more responsibilities. Charnley clearly has experience of running the business side of a family run club - and despite misgivings about Ashley, Toon seemed a well run club and he got it fit for a decent sale .

More concerning for me is , we now have a Sporting Director who didn't appoint the Coach. When results go South - the owners will turn to the Sporting Director and say what needs to change - they're unlikely to say I do - or my recruitment is poor. They tend to get one roll of the dice to keep their own job which means changing the Coach.

Wonder if the CEO had been charged with arranging the redevelopment of the Peter Taylor Stand? Would have thought it could fall under his responsibilities.
