Finish top four and we’re on for an extra £40million premier league prize money compared to last year. Plus a timely expiration of shirt sponsorshipNaively ignoring wages, presumably we still have at least around £25-30m-ish of leeway given our failed Giminez bids, before taking into account any additional revenue from a (hopefully) high Premier League finish, some form of European qualification and a cup run.
Throw in a few sales and I'm wondering if the summer budget could be significant, and if we make CL then the Big Man isn't going to f*** about.
I'd imagine that we'd probably attract a significantly higher calibre of shirt sponsor if we were in the Champions League, plus a lot of sponsorship deals for many other things. Then there's the money you get for playing in the Champions League itself. Our income would increase substantially.Finish top four and we’re on for an extra £40million premier league prize money compared to last year. Plus a timely expiration of shirt sponsorship
Cash would be the obvious one. Johnson would be an ideal one but Spurs won't sell him and he'd cost too much.It depends how old they are, I think we will bulk the squad up with U21 players who don't need to be registered
Matty Cash for Moreno is an easy no brainer swap as Villa might need a PSR fudge so we may get him on a discount as he has fell out of favour there anyway.
Probably true,Ash-but it’s easy to waste money on useless overpriced players..I'd imagine that we'd probably attract a significantly higher calibre of shirt sponsor if we were in the Champions League, plus a lot of sponsorship deals for many other things. The first year of spending in the Premier League also drops off the rolling 3-year period, so we will have quite a lot of leeway.
True. I trust our recruitment team to do a good job though.Probably true,Ash-but it’s easy to waste money on useless overpriced players..
We need to get the summer window as near to perfect as possible (whether we make Europe or not).
This is great! Although, the figures you posted are in Euros (on Transfermarkt) so this is bang on the money!Had a go at your list (although I think it’s a bit overkill).
Here you go:
1. Striker - Santiago Castro (Bologna 25m)
2. Winger - Luiz Henrique (Zenit- 22m)
3. LB - Ait-Nouri (Wolves 35m)
4. Goalkeeper - Hermandson (Leicester - 12m)
5. DM - Onyadika (Bruges - £16m)
6. RB - Ola Aina (Forest - £0m)
7. CB - Kossounou (Bayer Leverkusen - £30m)
8. Winger / Striker - MBueno (Brentford - £50m)
£180Million on fees (based on Transfermarkt.com)
I’ve been a bit flippant regarding Right Back as we already have the best in the Premier League and providing we off CL football I can’t see him leaving.
My thinking on RB is that if we get someone like Ait-Nouri as Left Back, then Williams backs up both left & right back positionsThis is great! Although, the figures you posted are in Euros (on Transfermarkt) so this is bang on the money!
For RB it’s more of a back-up to allow Moreira out on loan. So, not a direct replacement for Aina
Same for CB, in that no-one is getting in ahead of MnM. It might even be Bildon if pre-season goes ok? As we have Morato and potentially Carmo coming in.
Great idea. Although, who would you have as 4th choice fullback? My thinking on RB is that if we get someone like Ait-Nouri as Left Back, then Williams backs up both left & right back positions
Morato can play left back tooGreat idea. Although, who would you have as 4th choice fullback?
I don't think we need a left backMy thinking on RB is that if we get someone like Ait-Nouri as Left Back, then Williams backs up both left & right back positions
Matty Cash as back up for Aina , I could agree with - but not the other way round.I don't think we need a left back
I think we should sign a right back (Matty Cash preferable as counts as HG player) & use Aina as the left backup if Williams isn't available with Morato / Moreira as the 3rd choice on both side.
Having two fullbacks as good either side is a big advantage, that is an area we can trim down and settle for 3 natural players for those positions, in my opinion.
Can also do a job as a winger if required. I'd be happier seeing him out there filling in than Jota of I'm honest.Matty Cash as back up for Aina , I could agree with - but not the other way round.

Yes.. quite clearlyMatty Cash as back up for Aina , I could agree with - but not the other way round.
It's not about him as a player. I agree he has gone off the boil.I'm not arsed about Cash coming back at all to be honest. I don't think he's looked particularly great every time I've seen him and if Villa were prepared to let him go, not sure why we'd be wanting him.
Just shows how far we've come though not being arsed about Matty Cash.
Even if you do fag paper maths very roughly you can see we have loads of wiggle room.I'm not sure we've got the PSR flexibility for quite the spend job people think to be honest, even if we do get into the Champions League. We'll have more money to spend yeah, but this idea we'll be dropping £100m seems a bit fanciful unless we're selling people.
Bit of extra qualiteh across the front line and at DM, then pad the rest out with some decent, cheapish replacements to increase the overall quality of the squad.
Yes - not just a series in incomings. Could see one "big" departure. Hopefully not MGW or Murillo, but it depends on who and how much in reality. Newcastle may come back in for Elanga, and CHO has 1 year left on his contract, so is vulnerable.I'm not sure we've got the PSR flexibility for quite the spend job people think to be honest, even if we do get into the Champions League. All of that plus having some European football experience will be invaluable, could do much worse than try tempt Cash to play as part of our squadIt's not about him as a player. I agree he has gone off the boil.
But he is one of two players (Johnson being the other) that will count towards our home grown list for Europe which we will need.
It would be an easy deal that will help us register more players in Europe.
We could revisit one of the French LB's we were previously rumoured to be looking at before they were injured...Truffert (Rennes) and Locko (State Brestois)All of that plus having some European football experience will be invaluable, could do much worse than try tempt Cash to play as part of our squad
Personally not fussed about Ait-Nouri, he'd probably cost ~£30m and I don't think he's an improvement on what we have. Great going forward but questionable defensively
