• All - you probably don't need to be told, but....
Despite the Admins' best efforts some spammers/scammers/scalpers are getting through the entry system and are, astonishingly, in possession of FA Cup tickets that they, astonishingly, don't want!

It's probably a scam, and either way it's a criminal offence under section 166 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, (as amended by the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006) to offer or expose tickets for sale.

Please DO NOT engage with these people - please REPORT any threads/posts offering tickets for sale in case we've not caught them.
    Thanks!

City will buy him back and sell him for an extortionate price to someone like United or Chelsea.
This.

City have a 20% sell on so they'll effectively buy him back for £24m. Then they'll sell him for £40m+ and laugh all the way to the bank. No chance he's coming here for the release clause price.

I guess there's a question as to whether you'd loan with buy option set at say 50m on him from city. My answer would be same as previous: no ta!

Evanilson is a new name linked today - apparently he's somewhere on our striker shortlist.

Edit: thinking about it weren't we interested last season?

If so I think he'd definitely be worth a punt at £30m.

Remember a few seasons ago when a punt cost £200k from Estoril?

This won't happen.

Any club interest in Delap will already be talking to him & his agent. If they feel there's a possible deal they will insist that the player refuses any prospective move back to Man City via first refusal.

The only way he goes back to Man City is because there's no real interest in the market right now but Man City think they can probably loan him out for another season and then in 12 months time get that bigger fee. That would probably suit Delap as well, who could probably negotiate a bigger wage and a sell-on in the mean time.

And FWIW, I'm not convinced on Delap. He's got potential, but he's not there yet, and looks like at least Man Utd and West Ham are going to be after him in summer which will make the overall deal prohibitive.

I'd rather we looked at Evan Ferguson. Not done much at his West Ham loan and the fee Brighton could ask for him has probably plummeted given that lack of impact has come right off the back of an injury lay-off. Bit of a risk, but, he showed more last season than Delap has this. If we could do a deal of £10m-£20m plus add-ons I reckon that could be an interesting one.

If we could get;

Delap for £30m
Wissa for £25m

Then move on Sosa, Awonyi, Boly, Richards, Carmo and Stamenic. (Plus the Gunter money).

We should be able to strengthen LB, CDM and a couple more forwards, without selling any starters.

This will be a key window for the prevailing years.

Watching Villa play PSG last night made me realise should we finish the job and secure UCL we will have to sign some very very good players.
Correct - not target players that play in a shocking Ipswich side that stand out because the players around him are all crap.

We should be looking far above Delap's quality of player & in the category of players that have impacted & competed at the highest level of games.

Thankfully the club don't seem very interested in Delap as we have heard nothing, it seems to be mostly fan driven. It's not our market.

Expensive transfers from other Premier League/recently relegated clubs don't seem to be our thing in general. I think the club doesn't think there's value to be had in that market. We could probably find someone better than Delap in Europe for around the same price.

One thing to take into account is AFCON - Starts 21st December 2025 - Finishes 18th January 2026.
Any Player we sign would likely miss 6/7 games. Which wouldn't be ideal especially with potential Europe to contend with.

I’m watching Spurs vs Frankfurt and this Hugo Ekitike kid looks mustard.

He’s one that always had big talk around him, despite a goal record that doesn’t say much, but I can see what the fuss is about.

He reminds me a bit of a mix between Isak and Cunha. Would love to be in for him in the summer if we are intent on dropping big money on a striker.

Imagine having a washed up Chris Wood scoring for fun in this team and thinking Delap would be crap for us. Odd.

I’d take him as a 3rd striker on a free if he can prove fitness.

I have seen quite a bit of him this season, playing for Frankfurt, he is a player I really like, tall (he‘s something like 1,9m!) pacy and good with both feet.

One of the reasons Eintracht were prepared to let Omar Marmoush go to Man Cheaty was because they knew they had the young Frenchman in the squad - they paid (from memory) I think €16m to PSG for him. He has scored some cracking goals as well.

Currently he plays at under-21 level for France, but if he carries on the way he, I can see a call-up to the full squad soon.

Fair enough, we’ll take him as back up to Woody

Like I said, he’s one of those that was always linked with big clubs for big money, even without an impressive goal record or even a decent highlights reel, so I always wondered where the hype came from.

But I can definitely see it now. Like you said, quick, two footed, great dribbler and he’s getting the goals now. Against Spurs last night he was dropping deep, drifting wide and running in behind.

Colour me impressed.

Edit: just seen we were linked summer 23. Nobody on here was keen
