Steve Cooper will always be the MAN!

It’s simple. Which side of the fence are you on?

I hope so - I did expect us to go the foreign route under DM. I’m sure someone will let us know within a few days.
Yeah. To be honest I thought Cooper and possibly Lampard would be the only two domestic out-of-work managers that Dane might go for.

To be fair, if I was Steve Cooper I'd be swerving this job. His reputation after Swansea is pretty high, why tarnish it by coming to the World Famous Toxicity Ground?

Yes, Id take my 54% win percentage & extensive coaching pedigree elsewhere.

If there's one manager who we need for a relegation battle, it's one who's similar to the last manager and and with no relegation fighting experience
Also with the squad ill suited to pragmatic, defensive football.

If Tails is right, big if, then it's a ridiculous appointment. Seems essentially a Hughton clone.

I think that is a fair point. But I reckon we are such a basket case a failure at Forest is probably ignored on your cv.

As I posted a few weeks back he'd be my pick, I don't think there's a 'right fit' for this nuthouse of a club at present but I believe out of what coaches are readily available he'll be one of the better fits

I’ve admired how Swansea have had a template and identity-it’s not perfect and I’m sure there fans will give some negatives about the team and Cooper. But his style is generally in keeping with modern football, possession based, potential wing backs, invests in youth. Has championship experience. There is not going to a perfect candidate for the role but in my opinion this choice wud be positive.,

Howe, Wilder or some foreign genius most of us won't have heard of.

Cooper seemed to do ok at Swansea but wasn't that popular with the fans.

Odds with SkyBet

Steve Cooper 4/9
Chris Wilder 9/4
Alex Neil 11/1

Make of that what you will.

To be honest I care more about the new guy's style of football and ability to compete than I do how good looking he is.

Rather then names we need to know the manager fits into to Murphy plan as anything else will just hold us back.

#NFFC confirm Steven Reid will take temporary charge of the first team as interim head coach.

"The search for the permanent successor has begun and the club will update supporters in due course."

I thought there was something odd about him quitting his coaching-role with Scotland a couple of weeks ago, at a time when Hughton's position was highly tenuous, which suggests he may have been given certain guarantees?

We’ll need to sign a few more right wing backs.

I think I remember you (or someone) mentioning that.

It does seem like the wheels have been inn motion for a while tbh.

We’re all looking past the obvious here. It’s been said that Murphy wants a high-pressing, high-octane, up tempo game, as popular in Germany…..

As yet unappointed Manager #50

Repost from a few weeks back

He had an average group of players that bought into his approach and ended up looking pretty decent while over achieving two seasons in a row. His style had some variance and wasn't completely predictable. Could play a looser attacking style when he fancied his teams chances with it but could also take a more structured, defensively organized approach against tougher opponents when necessary. In my opinion that's an ideal recipe for consistency in a league like the championship if you don't have the luxury of a top 6 team

If we look back into his time coaching the England U16s and 17s when he won the world cup he was renowned and earned a lot of praise for playing an attacking brand of football, helped bring through players like Foden and TAA

Happy to get on with the job as head coach, good eye for young talent and takes pride in developing them (something we should utilize given our academy status). He had a very average squad of players over achieving consistently playing football catered to their limitations. The Swansea board refused to invest in the team and were happy with the job he was doing by getting a bunch of limited players over achieving, ultimately he had bigger goals so walked away

I think that's good.....but......it kinda reads a bit like "Hughton got Brighton playing some good stuff at times" too

Just for reference

Coopers got a 54% win percentage.
Coached extensively at England Youth level.
Managed two seasons in the Champs & achieved play offs in both.
He's got a clear vision of his end product & how to achieve it.
He wants the ball.

From where we are to that doesn't seem to much of a hardship. He wouldn't come here if he didn't feel he could achieve it.

Are we now suggesting its entertainment over everything?
