As good as Stan was in his pomp, and he was bloody good too…I’d much prefer Bomber and his work rate in my Forest team any day of the week.
I always liked Bowyer,Rocka-even before Clough arrived. As well has his grafting qualities he had a real eye
for goal.
As for Bowles,I got the impression he didn’t really enjoy being in Nottingham-and of course gave up a possible chance of a European Cup medal when failing to turn up for the trip to Madrid.

Aye Cloughie… it always saddens me when Ian Bowyer gets over looked when talking about great Forest players of the past.

Every time Gary.

Incidently, although Stan is slightly older, they both came through the Manchester City youth system around the same time.
Good knowledge Otis 👍

I agree,Rocka-a very underrated player by many and a true Forest legend.
His goal in Cologne (to add to his strike in the first leg) made the 2 European Cup wins possible.

last weekend I was talking to a fella I know near the cat and dog steps who isn’t a football fan but had a Cloughie story, his pal ( Sunlun fan) mentioned bomber “paid a million quid for him he was useless“ bitter he was bitter,

so I replied aye two European cups he won and we’ve still got most of that million left 🙂.

I’d say so-it changed the course of Forest’s history.
Had the game finished 0-0-I reckon the European Cup run would now probably be forgotten by much of the
footballing world (a bit like Derby’s 1973 adventure to the semi-finals).
Aye Cloughie, only Derby fans remember their European misfortune. The modern football fan wouldn’t have a clue Clough and Taylor’s Derby we’re robbed of a place in the European cup final.

I always felt the Super Cup was a bit of a glorified friendly,R.
I learnt something the other day ….we’ve played Barcelona twice in competitive games and are unbeaten,

Dundee Utd have played four won four against the Catalan giants 😬,

I’ve even found one of Charlie George’s goal too at the WFCG, not that you can see much of him.
