The one area that we are actually well stocked in, plus talk of QPR making a £3m bid and Hull being interested in the article (neither are exactly awash with cash). Smells like an agent trying to drum up interest to me.

Imagine the backlash if we get a defender before a striker

Especially if we paid £3m+ for what probably would be a back up centre half. This one is almost certainly an agent trying to get his client a lucrative move to the Championship, with three clubs names just picked at random (without any consideration of the likelihood of Forest wanting to strengthen in this position, nor the financial position of either QPR or Hull).

And they’ve apparently turned down 5million from celtic this summer and 6.5million from Villa last summer?

Left-footed CB. Just feel we have been looking for one since Jan.

Aberdeen value him at 10m though. Geez.

Given that we've 6 centre backs at the club (7 if you count Robinson being able to play there), we'd surely have to shift 2 or 3 before even thinking about an addition in this position?

Even if we were in for another centre half, I doubt we'd be shopping in the SPL for one. Doesn't seem to fit in with our current transfer strategy at all. That, and the whole QPR making a £3m bid thing undermines the articles credibility for me anyway.

I know McKenna is really highly rated up in Scotland, I thought he'd end up in the Prem or at Celtic this summer. Would be a very good signing if we can get him cheaper although it seems we're way off valuation.

I think the left footed thing is a big one, like I said after the friendly Worrall looked a bit awkward trying to play out left footed, once Sociedad realised that they could force him to cut back inside and then just tightly mark Dawson it left us a bit stuck and Muric started going long. Not surprised we're still after a left footer for balance.

Makes me think Sabri doesn't rate Figs, I dont think Figs has played too much this pre season either and Robinson is probably going to be deployed as first choice LB at least to start. Benalouane doesn't seem like a Sabri type of CB and Hefele is part of the bomb squad so it leaves Milo, Worrall and Dawson (who can't be relied on to play too many games at his age).

Worrall and Daws looked awkward as a pairing. As others have said, two right footers doesn’t help with passing it out from the back.

For me our best partnership is Daws and Figs but the latter seems to have vanished.

I read somewhere yesterday that he's been back in Portugal for personal reasons, not sure of the validity.

If Sabri wants McKenna, then so do I. If we buy him there must be a good reason, despite what the experts on here have to say.

I imagine that we have identified two right footed centre halves doesn’t work with the system he wants to play.

I doubt there's much in this one.

It's far more likely it's to get Celtic to bid.

If we are going to get another centre half, I think a player from the continent or a Premier League loanee is probably far more likely IMO.

Why is that Ashley? Scotland is a decent market to dabble in because you can get players cheaper. Saying that Aberdeen seem keen to rinse every penny from McKenna.

I hadn't even heard of him but doubt he's gonna be in the Cummings or McKay category considering he's Scotland's first choice CB.

Doesn't seem to be a market that we are exploring based on the kind of signings we have made in the last couple of windows, it would certainly be a departure from our recent transfer strategy for me.

The better players from that league do tend to actually cost decent money from what I can see (think McGinn, this McKenna chap, that Motherwell lad who failed the Celtic medical recent was about £3m-ish I think, etc). The cheaper ones tend to be the McKay and Cummings type of players.

I don't think we have a profile that we have been shopping in, we have dipped in a lot of markets. Portugese market is obviously the most prominent but we have got players from elsewhere.

Perhaps. As I said though, I think this link is agent talk for the reasons I previously stated.

On the subject of centre halves and Figueiredo (given that he's been mentioned in this thread), his absence has been due to a personal issue rather than injury / potentially leaving:
