You can bet he’s working on his finishing every day after missing that sitter.
Is finishing isn't the issue, he highlighted it in the interview for his actual goal he saw the ball come to him and he decided he needed to get a clean connection on it, which he did and we benefitted.

So many times since we've been in the big time he's lashed at them chances outside the box that he scored Friday and they have gone high, wide and over so I don't think it's the finishing itself for me it's the composure at that point... go back to Grabban he'd have never hit the one Ryan missed that hard because he knows when you are that close you don't need to hit it hard, it's all about placement... you could argue the same with the one Dom missed in the first half, no need to hit it hard just place it.

If he works on the composure we all benefit, ive no doubt he will because he has the potential to score 10 goals a season at this level for us because he does get in the right postions

I have posted it before in this very thread (probably after a few Weißbiers) but I can see elements of Roy‘s game in young Yatesy. The Forest Captain could go on to emulate the former Ireland and Forest great, I think he’s got that potential.

You don‘t get Roy Keane praising you unless you are very, very, good with bags of potential - and for me, thats the key, I am not sure Yatesy has even reached anywhere near his ceiling as yet.

What a player, and what a man.

If you came home and found young Ryan in bed with your wife, you’d tuck him in and nip downstairs and put the coffee on.
You know what it is with Keano and Yatesy? Mentality, fight, desire, spirit, work ethic.

Having people doubting your ability and criticising. Instead of getting upset and crumbling, both of them said 'I'll f***ing show you then'.

Keano saw that attitude in himself. They both have my utmost admiration.

I’m picturing Yatesy knocking on Grabbans door at 6am Saturday morning, shouting ‘Lewis, have you got a minute’ through the letterbox.

The work ethic of Yates and natural technical ability of Lewis McGugan would probably see the best Nottingham born midfielder of all time.

Then again, there was Steve Hodge. Often forgotten in the argument.....

To be honest I find your whole squad very likeable.

Unfortunately you're not allowed to hold this opinion as the sports media have decided we are 50 signings Mercenary FC.

I can't think of a player who so clearly embodies work ethic and desire to succeed since Stuart Pearce at this stage.

He keeps improving and keeps getting back in the team, regardless of who we bring in. He is now a credible PL player and has proven those who doubted him definitively mistaken.

Roy Keane maybe?

Elite level attitude and professionalism can get you a very long way.

Judging by some of the states Keane got into in the Black Orchid I’d say there’s no comparison in terms of professionalism.

Bin VAR!
He can add Leicester to his fan club! 😂

The worst effect out of us losing on Friday is people talking about Ryan Yates for the ****ing England team. Maybe at second row FFS

Thing is he's such a nice lad as well. But the type of player who you'd love on your side but hate to play against.

Every set of fans says the same, he really does ruffle feathers but in the sort of way which means he's not likely to get booked or sent off too often.

Thinking back to his early career, out on loan to a variety of clubs, seeing snatches of his play as those teams played a rare televised game.

He seemed a decent prospect, but not one likely to ruffle feathers at top clubs.

Just shows why MON was so effusive in his praise after the Leicester game, how he has lifted his game as he made progressive moves up the Leagues.

The highest compliment I can pay him - that all opposition fans hated Psycho as well
