I think strikers appear to be the one position that you often need to overpay in. Quality, elite level strikers are like rocking horse shit.

And as I said......can't get my head around being willing to spend more on Mr farmer's league but not someone who's done it in the Bundesliga & appears to have more of the attributes we're after.

Gonna bite us on the arse big time if we don't get at least a loan deal over the line.

Agree with you in principle, not sure this lad has quite yet hit the quality/elite level striker status.

You might be right.

I have been known to overreact when it comes to Forest 🤣.

Id hate all our fantastic work to be undone by an injury or inability to convert chances to goals though.

Glad we aren't over paying, 6m more than we think is fair is about 30% extra.

Shows another clubs that even though we have cash we won't waste it even when desperate.

As others have said Jota can play there, as can Moreira. We still have Dennis who is good enough for 6 months as third choice.

His CF stats are nowhere near elite which is why I was a bit concerned - not doubting he's a decent player but a nailed type we've talked about? Not for me and not for elite striker money.

It only seems to be strikers that have been turning us down.

I'm wondering if we were unable to guarantee that they'd be first choice. Or that they were aware that we had 2 decent strikers in that position anyway.

You'd have to think it'd be a striker's wet dream to be feeding on balls from MGW, Sosa & JWP....

Maybe we should start flipping the script on them.

Why would we guarantee you’re first choice?

That’s your job.

I think the competition for the one starting spot is a big factor, they all know that if Awoniyi gets back to anything like the form at the start of last season they’ll be 3rd choice.

I'm happy with what we have got until January

But we could do with a cheap 3rd choice.

You can't say the club haven't tried

Kevin Denkey is the only thing I have seen, but it is a very vague link and I am struggling to find anything concrete. Just someone saying it was posted in Voetbal Magazine. Tried scouring further, but nothing.

Is Dennis still on our books?

As bonkers as it sounds...Id keep him if we fail to land a striker.
He is.

And I'd be inclined to agree with you if we're unable to bring anyone else in. I mean, he's not great but he's at least got a fair few goals at this level.

By the way I highlighted these problems 12 months ago, it's not easy nor cheap to upgrade our current 2 strikers. They are already better than most around us, to continue to improve that leaves an extremely small market we are shopping in. Not only will they want guaranteed game time which we can't give them they may want to play higher in the league.

But I also fail to believe EM will not get somebody in, don't think that's ever happened before.

It's not that bonkers.

Assuming the moves we expect (Ward Prowse and Morato in, Turner and Bowler out) all go through, then we've got 26 players eligible to be named in the 25. That includes Danilo (who won't be fit anyway), and Dennis and Hwang as the remaining Bomb Squad. Of those two, I'd certainly favour keeping Dennis around for cover.

My takeaway from all of this is that we should stop trying to sign players who are playing European football this season. Gimenez in the CL, Marmoush in the Europa League. It seems the Prem alone isn't enough of a carrot to these players.

MGW & Jota can also play up top.

MGW in particular as JWP & Anderson in the building now allows other players to play in his normal position.

It's not ideal but MGW has performed well up top in the past elsewhere. This is a scenario where we lose both Wood & Taiwo in the space of 3 months. We don't need another striker desperately enough to panic.

Dead according to the German side now too. Player has said he wants to stay.

I'm not overly devastated, I think JWP adds at least 10 goals to the total with scoring himself and assists. That said I'll be amazed if the Marinakis' egos allow them to let the window closed without adding a striker now, 11 hours to go.

Edit: Frankfurt have just posted a video of him, speaking German but assume it's along the lines of "I'm staying put"

Yeah, he says to the Eintracht fans, he’s at the Waldstadion for training, and that he’s overwhelmed by the good wishes he’s had in the last few days, and is looking forward to the home-opener (Eintracht are at home to Hoffenheim tomorrow) and making lots more memories there.

I agree. We're stuck betwixt and between, none of which is Forests fault, the next striker level up is probably about £45M and we've not got that yet. We need to finish midtable this season which,

a) means we've already got the majority of squad and don't need to spend as much in other areas to enable us to have that money

b) means the striker doesn't need as much convincing that we're a safer bet

You would, of course, have to exclude someone else to include either of the bomb squad.
