Going with Wood and Awoniyi until January is a massive risk. Then in January you're paying way over the odds (more than the extra £6M that it might cost now) for a player who is warming someone else's bench. I don't see that as sensible at all.
Just because they are walking away from this (or are flexing to bring valuations more in line) doesn't mean they won't look to bring someone else in.

I'd be surprised if that's the case, unless we see Jota as a central back up option.

Big risk committing to half a season with only Wood and Awoniyi as recognised strikers

Not inconceivable both get injured then we'd be playing someone out of position which not only isn't ideal in itself but then your also taking that player out of their role elsewhere on the pitch

Hope the club know what they're doing

Disappointing we won't be getting that vital striker option but agree we shouldn't be held to random either..

Can’t see us failing to add another forward today. That would be a mistake.

Also pleased we aren’t just adding 6m plus add ons to an offer where we are getting screwed over.

Happy that we're not rolling over and paying whatever. Don't want a reputation as over-spenders that will make deals harder in future.
The issue is we could quite easily end up up doing that in January and more. By which time we could already be bang in trouble with the injury issues Wood and Taiwo have.

Huge risk. Get the striker in now and mitigate all of those issues.

We have Jota Silva who has played successfully as a striker.
Having seen him v Newcastle, i think he can do a decent job up front for us.
And I agree with others who admire the Club for not panicking and paying way over the odds for a player that has no proven Prem potential.

How reliable is John Percy anyway?

I’ve only seen him saying it’s off.

I reckon we’ll go for an improved bid later today.
Club mouthpiece, whichakes me agree with you. We'll go on with a little more than the last 'final' offer.

I'm still not convinced this guy is _the_ guy though he'd be a useful squad addition.

Still think a deal is possible for a compromise £25M. Loads of time to go and as most have said we shouldn’t just roll over.

Well we won't be able to sign any players on loan from England now. We've reached our quota of domestic loans with Moreno and Ward-Prowse.

We need Marmoush to do a Sosa, and throw a tantrum. Maybe walk out on the team. you know walk like an Egyptian

Thanks folks, I am here all week...

Dead according to the German side now too. Player has said he wants to stay.

I'm not overly devastated, I think JWP adds at least 10 goals to the total with scoring himself and assists. That said I'll be amazed if the Marinakis' egos allow them to let the window closed without adding a striker now, 11 hours to go.

Edit: Frankfurt have just posted a video of him, speaking German but assume it's along the lines of "I'm staying put"

It only seems to be strikers that have been turning us down.

I'm wondering if we were unable to guarantee that they'd be first choice. Or that they were aware that we had 2 decent strikers in that position anyway.

You'd have to think it'd be a striker's wet dream to be feeding on balls from MGW, Sosa & JWP....
