Lol it’s like a mating call. Osaka is Fantastic isn’t it? In the years I’ve been visiting here I’ve always thought it really is the food capital of the world never mind Japan..forget the usual Paris etc.. here It’s the vast epic choices available to an average family.
It was the first place I ever had Wagyu beef, and I would maintain that was the best steak I’ve eaten in my life.

(And thank God, I wasn’t paying!)

We seem to make them look like world beaters. Think we'll see a combative line up, three CB's, Yates and Kauyate prowling around.

While Bruno Fernandez is captain of Manure, we have a chance, eh rat fans?
Here he is, on his day off:

Can't afford any passengers in a game like this. The competition for midfield/attacking midfield positions is intense and, at the moment, it would be unfair on any of the other lads to miss out whilst Danilo has been below par.
I agree that we can't afford passengers, but we are 2 games into the new season, and last season over the last few games danilo's form was top drawer.
I would allow him a couple more games to get back into the swing of being in England, settling into Prem league standards of play, and finding his feet again.
Still, you are generally pretty good with your observations and maybe Saturday would be useful to have him on the bench, to come on when we are comfortably in the lead and playing with flair and confidence.
I think I'll leave it to Steve to decide this time.

It's definitely a good time for us to play against Man Utd based on their form so far this season. What was noticeable in United's previous 2 games against Wolves and Spurs is that those teams didn't allow players like Rashford or Bruno Fernandes to have much time on the ball and frustrated them by closing down, winning the ball back quickly and then keeping possession for fairly long periods.

I think our problem playing United last season, apart from the fact that we played them whilst they were flying in the league, is that we gave them far too much time and space, sat back and allowed players like Bruno and Rashford to basically do whatever they wanted. If we are going to get a result here then we can't let that happen again, but I don't see the rest of there squad as that much of a threat in this moment.

There's no doubting that we will play on the counter but that doesn't mean we have to allow them to play with freedom, we need to be well drilled and high energy off the ball, Yates must play and when we get the ball we need to be more careful in possession. The reason Wolves did so well against them and should have beaten them was due to their composure in possession, they played United off the park especially in the second half. I can't see us doing that as it's not our style but those counter attacks need to be clinical and devastating, and we certainly have a more ruthless edge to our attack than Wolves do (which isn't exactly that hard). If we continually give the ball away when we get it however then we won't get anything from the game.

A lot depends on how our minerals are for this. Last season it was embarrassing x4.

Wolves showed last week that if you go at them they're vulnerable. Wolves should've had at least a point there.

I fully expect us to shit ourselves and give Casemiro the freedom of Manchester though and sit so deep we'll be in with the punters in the Stretford End.

United 3-0 Forest

82%-18% possession.

Does the "Mr Realistic" tag you've given yourself include you writing Awoniyi off as not good enough for the Prem dude?

Was that a "realistic" appraisal of his abilities?

If we set up in a somewhat positive way I think we can get at these, Wolves who are probably worse than us gave them something to think about.

United really need an extra midfielder and someone to put the ball in the back of the net and I doubt they’ll plug those gaps before Saturday.

Push our defensive line up a touch so our rapid front line aren’t having to counter attack from our own penalty area and we can get something.

I’d start with 4 at the back with Elanga starting ahead of BJ and see what happens.

Turner

Aina (if fit)
Boly
Worrall
Aurier

Danilo
Yates
Mangala

MGW
Awoniyi
Elanga

We will concede chances with the 4 at the back but I think that gives us the best chance of grabbing a goal or two, everyone expects us to lose anyway so f*** it.

I’ll say it quietly but the best steak I’ve ever had and it was consistently good over a 20 year period was an Argentinian restaurant in germany!
There is a fantastic little Argentine steakhouse down the road from me in Zuffenhausen, and the quality is superb, and it’s reasonably priced as well.

United have been shit so far so if we don't go into the game with confidence we'll be missing an opportunity. We can't go into this overawed, bend over and take it up the arse like we did so often away from home last season. Get into them!

IF Aina and Niakhate are fit, a draw is not impossible. Otherwise I think it probably is.
We would surely need to keep them to one goal to be in with a shout and I would't fancy our chances of doing that if it's Worall and McKenna in there with Boly. But if the defensive platform is solid, we look well capable of getting a goal ourselves -- Taiwo looks as good as any striker in the PL at the moment. And of course Elanga is fated to do them so damage. 1-1 moral victory for the Garibaldi.

Having watched Wolves and Spurs games, United are by no means untouchable. However, do we have the belief in ourselves? We should after performing admirably against Arsenal showing how far we have come compared to last season.

If we do shit ourselves like we did last season (with the help of United's VAR) then you're spot on. However, I think we've grown and a point at least should be the target here whilst United look disjointed coupled with a toxic fanbase towards the owners. Hopefully we have OT like Saint Mary's of last season.

1-0 Forest, Awoniyi obviously.

But again who are you playing ahead of him? Kouyate maybe, but I'd rather have Danilo. Surely not Freuler or O'Brien. And playing Elanga or Johnson ahead of him would leave us too short in midfield.

I don't think he was particularly bad against SU anyway. Just needs a bit of sharpness back.

I want to be optimistic, and it does seem like our players were making strides towards the end of last season of getting rid of our minows away mentality, and our obsession with treating every home player like untouchable footballing Gods, but I’ve got a feeling we’ll kick start United’s season…its what we do!

Towards the end of last season we started to at least give teams a game away from home. We could have easily got something from Anfield and were robbed against Brentford. A draw at Stamford Bridge, even against a disjointed (yet incredibly expensive) side managed by Frank Lampard, is nothing to be sniffed at.

Picking up a first away win as early as possible will be one of the key objectives this season, just to break the cycle and give belief. Trouble is, whoever/whatever worked out the fixtures conspired to make our first four away games so absurdly difficult it almost feels like a wind up.

Still, in effect they're all a free hit as we're not expected to get anything from them at all. You would hope this would ease the pressure on the players and free them up to give a good account of themselves and potentially produce an upset.

It could happen.

My Mrs's signature dish is corned beef and potato pie.
(Edotor#'s Note: she isn't what you would call a deliverer of haute-cuisine... but she is from Bolton).
My grandmother used to do corned beef and potato pie with half inch of beef mince gravy on top….served with a pail of mushy peas 👌….now that’s good eating

Last season we gave united the freedom of the midfield to play around in by consistently leaving the area vacant. This season United have been doing that. Casimiro has suddenly turned into his dad. 4-4-2 telling Johnson he's a right-midfielder not a winger and it's in the bag. Aurier to kick Garnacho all game long.
