• All - you probably don't need to be told, but....
Despite the Admins' best efforts some spammers/scammers/scalpers are getting through the entry system and are, astonishingly, in possession of FA Cup tickets that they, astonishingly, don't want!

It's probably a scam, and either way it's a criminal offence under section 166 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, (as amended by the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006) to offer or expose tickets for sale.

Please DO NOT engage with these people - please REPORT any threads/posts offering tickets for sale in case we've not caught them.
    Thanks!

We're a specialist team.
We normally face passing, possession teams.
Yesterday we came up against different tactics, more physical play, and its been very rare this season. Long balls from GKs are pretty much limited to Forest and Everton in the PL.
Maybe our whole tactical setup just doesn't work against this.

Maybe that's wishful thinking, but it doesn't necessarily mean we're bad now.

We definitely have a ‘style of play’ which has clearly worked well for us this season. We’re hard to play against, hard to score against and hard to beat.

We’ve been mostly untouched by injury, until recently, which has meant we have been consistently successful and needed to only tweak things rather than change them. The players know where, what, who and when.

However, yesterday was a cluster****. It just didn’t work against Everton.

We've been out-Forested before this season by Newcastle; there was a bit of that yesterday imo, where their physicality unsettled us and we failed to capitalise in the few moments where we did manage to put things together. Obviously several also had off days which never helps.

On to the next one - I'm not sure we'll come up against another side with that kind of physicality and approach to us, and hopefully if we do we won't be having the kind of day many seemed to have yesterday.

And really, credit to Everton - they countered us very well and had sufficient quality from the bench to get them over the line for the three points, obviously aided by a few brainfarts while we 'went for it' (rushed things) in injury time.

Nuno will be furious we dropped the point though - three wins (pretty much what we need) from seven games also translates to two wins and three draws. We lost an important point yesterday - hopefully we learn from that, and that collectively yesterday serves as a giant kick up the arse to propel us towards FA cup and European glory. This boy still dreams... why not?

On a positive note, Ange won’t be trying to “out-Forest” us. He only knows how to “out-Spurs” himself.

Think it probably helps to be away for this one too.

Having slept on it .....

a poor performance in every way, no-one had a claim to player of the match IMO

credit to Everton. I don't like them (or their fans) but they did a first class job on us yesterday

highlight of the day: Mark Dennison telling Viv Anderson that his chosen 'chemibier' is not and never has been made in Spain (and why was Viv A plugging that stuff anyway, disappointing if it's about money)

disappointment of the day (after losing): a few so-called Forest fans singing the appalling 'sign on' song. Embarrassingly stupid.

I have a bit of news on the stadium, over on that thread in a minute.

Six more points will see us in the CL I am sure. The worrying thing is that when I am watching CL football on the TV I think "do we want to be facing teams like that?". It's frightening at times, simply frightening.

If those away twats want to sing the "We hate Nottingam Forest" song, with all the connotations and associations that go with that song, then all bets, along with the gloves, are off, and they deserve all they get in return.

I don't think there is even that much to analyze

Everton did a job on us, we went long too early & it played into their hands. As the game went on, we became more impatient and kept rushing passes with none of our wingers able to impact the game which we heavily rely on.

If it ends 0-0, we would all take the point but it's just disappointing to throw away a point chasing 3, we didn't need too.

Everton are clearly making life difficult for everyone under Moyes, its reflected in their results.

Minutes before we conceded, I told my husband that I'd happily take the point the way it was going. And seeing us in their half with 2 minutes to go, I finally started to believe that it was going to end 0-0, after being really anxious for 92 minutes. That might have been my mistake. (And that's also why that goal hurt so f***ing much.) :poop:

Not a single booking for us, no fight, no flair, no point.

Dom and Anderson tried but to be fair the ref played some good advantages to both sides which avoided giving yellow cards to those players.

But how often do we see teams haul our players down to stop counters and we don’t do the same often enough.

It’s annoying me Murillo didn’t clean everything out after his mistake. Get the lad watching some Pepe and Ramos tapes.

Your stadium updates are interesting but why do you continue to try and police what people chant? I've seen you do this numerous times. I bet most Everton fans couldnt give a shit about us singing that song.

I sang it as did most of the fans in U1 stood around me. It's a classic and the fact it's no longer even true of Liverpool makes it funnier to me.

If someone can think of a more modern, catchier piss-take of you'll never walk alone I'll happily sing that too.

In the same way that I find a fourteen year old Sheffield Utd fan calling me a scab a stupid and offensive thing to do, trying to rattle scousers (and anybody else) who was so terribly impacted by what happened under Thatcher is unkind and, frankly, silly. We are better than that.

Everton fans do care about it, as do many Forest fans. It's not as loud as it once was, and I look forward to the day when we support our team above all else rather than sing 'that' song. I don't see that as policing, it's my opinion. if the club tried to police it that's another matter.

Didn’t think I’d see anything as embarrassing as the performance yesterday but reading some of the posts from some on here might actually have topped it.

First sign of trouble and you’re throwing the towel in and players under the bus. Pathetic.

Our strength has been in our unity, across team and fans. The players are clearly gassed but we need to get them over the line. If after the season we have had people start turning on them we don’t deserve anything

I actually think Merino should do a better job of either standing McNeil up or managing to get something on the ball as it comes through but hey ho. Not sure we concede that with Aina on the pitch.

The less said about that poor performance the better.

However, I want to give a shout out to the guy who I met on the train back to London (from Newark). His first game at the City Ground in 28 years. Lives in California now and was over on a business trip so extended his stay to be able to go. The result wasn't great for his return, but hearing his stories of finally coming back was heart-warming. We had a really good chat about the match, the club and the recent seasons. Told him not to leave it 28 years to come back again.

It's hearing stories like what he was telling me just reminds you that once it's in your blood, no matter where you are in the world, the Garibaldi still runs deep.

I also met a couple yesterday who’d me across from Dublin for the game. Obviously disappointed, but they were still really positive about being at the match and the season.

What do you mean that 'we are better than that'? Its been sung by Forest for about 40 years!

Where's me hammer?
The Bruno Fernandez being a rat was more embarrassing than the sign on chants... Everton sang we hate Nottingham Forest which to me I will always associate it and remind me of Liverpool singing it at us after we'd got involved in their grief at Old Trafford.... like donating to the RSPB and then a bird shitting on your head.

f*** Liverpool, f*** Everton and f*** John Aldridge

Is there a list somewhere of who gets to do the next match thread? I wouldn't mind doing one either spurs or next season if there's a long list
