Nuno Albertino Varela Tavares

Have to say I've changed with view of him. When I first saw him I thought he had his boots on the wrong feet, but he's improved a lot since then.

I still think he's far from the finished article, and I'm not even sure we should buy him if we stay up, but he's been much better.

His energy, pace, and power are always a threat and he carries us up the pitch effortlessly, creating more room for CHO. When he makes an extra man through the middle and runs at the opposition it creates panic as no-one is marking him. We've done it several times now so I'm sure it's a tactic.

If he can just improve his final ball a little he'll be a real asset and may even score a few valuable goals before the season is done. Trouble is, he likely still has a mistake in him when defending, but at the moment I think it balances out well - the good outweighs the bad.

Explains why he keeps shooting with his right foot.

Still has work to do to win me over, but I thought he had a good game against West Ham. He does have the raw attributes to potentially become a good player though, and NES certainly sees something in him it seems so hopefully he can get the best out of him.

He is powerful, can run, sometimes with ball, and he seems to be developing a good understanding with CHO.
Hopeflly Tavares will continue to improve, and adjust his shooting sights down a touch!

Rate him personally, thought the attacking perspective to the West ham performance was as good as its been here for a long time & tavares was an integral part of that.

Genuine 2 way player, who's creating a genuine decoy for CHO.

Liked him before, but now hes finally put a 30 yarder in the general vicinity, I like him even more.

I personally prefer aina at left back. I think he’s better defensively and still good going forward.

Regarding Tavares, at what point does he activate permanent transfer? Is it a certain amount of games? Do we know?

Reports just mentioned an option to buy so don't think there's any obligation

One would imagine that it's when he scores a screamer from 25 yards ...

like spence , tavares is better offensive than defensive but nuno seemed to like his namesake. However, his transfer fee of 12m is a big hurdle i'm not sure we should be paying.

I think if we survive the drop then 12m is fine and good value for a PL 24 year old who is and still developing and his value would increase.

I think Tavares sums up most of the signings we've made who've previously been signed by a bigger club. You can see he has the talent for a club like Arsenal to have signed him, but he has the flaws and inconsistencies that show why they've been happy to let him go. I think Aurier is the other that shows this most, you could absolutely see at times why the likes of Spurs and PSG wanted him, but times where you could see why he never truly made it there.

In terms of Taveres I thought he was excellent against West Ham, some of his final decision making is certainly poor but he's often done something brilliant to get into that position in the first place.

If he keeps improving, if we survive and if Nuno stays, he might actually be value for money when the time comes for a decision.

Could be out for “weeks” according to Nuno. Looks like we’ll have to find a solution one way or another. Toff, Aina or Williams?

Aina, if he's fit soon.
