Marcus Rashford

Like I mentioned in another thread, we need to be wary of signing disruptive characters regardless of their ability. Players don't usually get frozen out in the manner that Rashford did unless something is very wrong IMO.
Ridiculous wages aside-surely it’s down to the manager/head coach to integrate possible disruptive players
(especially when they have clear talent).
I recall Brian Clough signing Larry Lloyd in 1976 and Kenny Burns in 1977-both regarded as potential troublemakers but were instrumental to our incredible success in that era.

I think player power is much more of a thing nowadays, and a good harmony in the dressing room is harder to achieve and maintain. Its really important that the signings we make this month fit in well with the rest of the lads.

We've got to tread really carefully here. We've got a good thing going and need to do what we can to protect the environment we've created at the moment. A billy big bollocks who thinks he's bigger than the club and calls the shots could see things turn sour here really quickly.

I doubt we'll sign Rashford anyway, he'll probably just fester at United before moving abroad to someone with more money than sense in the summer I reckon.

You only think he's a billy big bollocks because of the perception you are fed by the hyper analysis Man United get from the media.

I personally think he is a bit sulky... but we have seen periods in his career where he is not. If Forest get him when he is not sulking then he is instantly our best player. Worth a risk if it's a deal that can be done IMO. Said in other threads, it's all about the environment & we have created a good one where players are thriving. We didn't get to where we are now by playing it safe in the transfer market & waiting for the ultimate perfect player.

It's not like anyone thrives at Man United is it.. the ultimate basket case of a club. Pick him up whilst his stock is low. Or at least try too. He's not gonna turn up here and sulk, if he turns up here we would have sold him a vision because he will have plenty of offers on the table.

I would absolutely take him for 6 months. Surely he can't be so disruptive that he could do any damage in 6 months. It would be common knowledge if he was that bad. I don't know how anybody can doubt his talent & let's face it, mental health issues seem to be a bit of a common theme for Man Utd players so I suspect the issue is with the club rather than the player. A Nuno arm around him & some friendly faces in the dressing room could bring out the best in him.

Having said that I wouldn't be arsed if we didn't get him in. The club have earned my 100% trust to make the right signings so I'm all for letting them crack on with it :)

No point having a expensive loan taking up a first team place and disrupt the harmony when we are doing so well.

We are in a different place now, and as the noises in the club are suggesting, we will be paying a lot of attention to the good feel factor at the club and not pursue anything that might disrupt it.

I don’t think anyone can really appreciate how much of a f***ing shit show it is at Man United, and what it does to their players. I’d be very interested to see how Rashford might do for 6 months, if Man U take on at least half his absurd wage bill.

I think he’d surprise a lot of people.
He'll either rip it up and bang in the goals or he'll stink the place out Jonjo Shelvey style IMO.

Its a big gamble with a potentially big pay off, but given how well we are doing I'm not sure its worth the risk.

FWIW I don’t think it’ll happen because he’s on three hundred and twenty five thousand pounds a week but in an ideal world I think he actually fits our profile. CHO might have had similar things said about him when he came here.

I think with CHO it was more about his fitness. With Rashford its more about the reason(s) why he has been frozen out at United, something has gone very wrong from either the player's or club's side of things; which one I don't know for sure but my gut feeling tells me its something we should approach with caution.

Of course, in the unlikely event that he does come here on loan he has my full support and I'll assume that the club will have done their due diligence on this (to be fair, they get things right more often than not!).

He’s currently turning down 35m per year off Saudi teams and holding out for Barca by all accounts. Swap him in for JWP at an extra cost of £3m for the remainder of the season could be a great move.

He’s getting goals in this team.

Everything about United is poison from the top maybe minus the kitman and tea lady. They have an abundance of riches at their disposal and they continuously fail.

I don't see what harm having him for 6 months could do. It certainly won't get us relegated!

He's gone from a player who is unplayable on his day to a player that on a match day is unplayable.

Four goals in 15 looks like an okay return for a regular wide player but considering those goals have come against Ipswich, Southampton and Everton it starts to look less impressive.

In terms of talent, Rashford has a top player's talent but he has a really brittle mentality and our squad is built on the back of strong, resilient characters. He's getting 300k a week and even paying a third of that with no loan fee would put him right at the top of our wage structure.

Spunking this sort of money on a player that won't have any intention of coming here, for six months is completely against the way we've grown in the last two seasons.

Absolutely f***ing not. I mistakely thought Origi was going to be a mustard loan signing and he was hopeless, I see this one exactly the same, an expensive failure.

Agree totally. Don't upset the balance.

We've quietly built a team of solid characters who have untapped potential. Nuno has created an environment where each individual has assisted the team to become greater. They've lifted one another up a level.

Our history is littered with big name players on massive wages who came and did sweet FA for Forest or themselves.

This window requires a measured approach.

Just maybe it’s the club getting to him at United, that wouldn’t be suprising as it really appears that it is in a state due to years of neglect and that new idiot taking charge cutting peoples wages etc.
Cannot be a happy place to just be thinking about playing football with the shit show it has become.
I think when Rashford leaves, which is clearly what he wants, a lot of the stress and BS will be gone for him to do what he does best which is play football.
A six month loan with Man U covering most of his wages would be a great move, On his day Rashford can frighten most defenders in this league.
After that he actually may want to stay.
Given the right circumstances it would be a good piece of business.

If we're looking to pay £573m a week for a sulky dickhead to come in and stink up our bench behind Woody then I'm all over this

Otherwise no, the guy's overrated and a twat

No thanks

If he’s holding off for Barca ( who don’t have the money btw) what makes you think he’ll join us? I don’t think for a second he would entertain the idea to join us as he thinks he’s too good for us.

I know he can be a wonderful player and I would love that version of him playing for our team but just can’t see it happening

Friend of mine who supports United warned me about Lingard.

I think we'd be looking at a similar situation here.

A highly paid cheerleader who's lost his mojo for playing, but enjoys the 'good vibes' in the dressing room.

In fairness to Lingard, we can't say he wasn't a positive influence behind the scenes. That is actually perhaps the only positive that can be said about his time here. I didn't mind his social media stuff because again, a bit like with Ola's stuff, it shows that these lads are just normal guys who play football for a job.

What I didn't like about Lingard, is what the media would do with Rashford if he came here. Everything we did, every time we played, every time we won or lost, he'd be the focal point. So it'd be about how he's playing better/worse now he isn't at United, will United keep him or sell him in the summer etc..

f*** that for a laugh. Give me either players like Felipe/Navas who are near the end of their careers but they've still got the passion to win or give me young and hungry potential talent like Aina, Anderson and Gibbs-White.

Turn the question on its head - where can he go?

Saudi - all foreign spots are full apparently
Barca can’t register who they’ve got
Madrid don’t need him
PSG gone young / local
Liverpool / city - no way
Chelsea - wrong age
Arsenal - arteta not a fan

Think you’re left with spurs, Newcastle and maybe Italy.

Would have been far better doing the interview saying he wanted to stay at Man U and fight, but another stupid decision.

It’s a no from me - get 2 of those young South Americans in.

All great points - I think he has three options
1) Go to a high-profile place that he thinks will get him back on the world scene where he thinks he belongs
2) Recognise he needs rehabilitating, suck it up and go to a "second string" place where he may have to take a paycut but he potentially can really make an impact.
3) Sulk but keep raking in the money and hope that when his contract is up option 1 is still available

At the moment as per your list he's kind of boxed in. Saudi is pretty much a graveyard (or should that be gravy-yard?) and there's very little chance of coming back. The others don't want him and/or can't afford. Either he pulls himself together and grows the stone for option 2 or he's history.

Actually it proves your friends point wrong. Lingard just didn’t have the ability, the rhetoric around Lingard was he had a poor attitude & was a billy big bollocks which was a load of shit.

If people think Rashford doesn’t have the ability to play for Forest - I am sorry but you are deluded.
