A playful post after some reports in Spain - probably bollocks of course - that Rashford is available. Now that would be a statement of some ambition. He's 27 now (how did that happen?) but has undoubted credentials as a top striker ... obviously never happen but gives us something to talk about as we search for something that can propel us forward in our quest for glory

Before Ten Haag got the boot I was thinking might be worth a cheeky loan bid. If the new man doesn’t like him either - then may as well throw our hat in the ring.

Should he become available, I'd suggest it's virtually impossible that he'd be attracted by a move here, be it due to his wage demands and/or our perceived PL status. That said, being an almost guaranteed first choice at the level of club he'd desire probably wouldn't be assured either. He'll go abroad.

Id love Rashford for us. Won't happen, but it's a huge yes from me. Get him enjoying his football again (like we have with others) and he absolutely rips it up.

Really can't think some people are suggesting we can or should sign him.

He's been off the pace for a while now and although he seems to always score against us then we know that isn't really a good way of working out signings.

Not only that but he would cost a lot on wages and would probably not want to sign for us anyway.

We need a striker but I think if Rashford is coming up as the answer then the wrong questions are being asked.

At the end of the day we need to be opportunistic in the strikers position, if a deal has a glimmer of chance of happening (which is why HBB suggested it) then we should be at least prodding to find out.

It's going to take some player to displace Wood in current form.

True, but Rashford isn't really the answer.

We have signed similar profile strikers before and they don't get their form back magically when coming here.

It smacks of us getting Andy Cole at the end of his career when he then did f*** all for us and also a bit like us getting Lingard though they were a bit older than Rashford is.

Depends really on the reasons for his current form, if it's simply incompatibility with ETH, then he'll hit form wherever he goes; but I'm not sure it is as he was still cleaning up in ETH's first season, so there sounds like there's some attitude issues there possibly too.

It is nothing like those deals... Rashford is 27.

I am not even saying it's a realistic deal but no way is it anything like those deals in any way at all.

Tbf it just feels a bit like he's past his prime a bit when actually he should be in his peak years. Plus we'd be giving him a 3/4 year contract presumably which would take him up to 31 (hypothetically) then he probably wouldn't have as much resale value which isn't the type of signing the club typically goes for (well, OK we have done some of these when we needed experience, e.g. Wood) so it would be a marquee signing which would need to pay off on the pitch.

Either way signing a player who's been off form and not really appeared with it (though not been obviously injured) for a couple of years now does look more of an attitude risk. It feels like it even though it shouldn't because Rashford isn't old enough for that really.

It is his attitude that is the problem, he is the type of player that would keep telling others he is the best player at the club and they are lucky to have him. Seriously, if he ever did join us, how long would it take Yates to smack him, or smash him in training ?

That's the thing for me. Undoubtedly a very talented player, but I don't think his ego and attitude makes him a good fit for a club like us.

OR on the flip side how long would it take for the grounded players we have to rub off on him and he starts putting in 110% like our lads do.

Perhaps that would be the best thing to happen to Rashford.

Folk keep typing things like this: "Yates smashes him".

How often have you actually seen Yatesy smash anyone? I can only remember the red card he got at Ashton Gate where he actually did something close to that.

Yatesy is not by any stretch of the imagination a hard man. He's a niggly, cunning, player who winds the oppo up rather than someone who actually goes in really hard. The way he's described buy some suggests he's a Psycho type, which from what I can make out couldn't be further from the truth.

Joining up with CAA Stellar agency. We’ve got a few top earners with them.

6 month loan deal before he gets his dream move to Barca. when they can afford to register him….

Like I mentioned in another thread, we need to be wary of signing disruptive characters regardless of their ability. Players don't usually get frozen out in the manner that Rashford did unless something is very wrong IMO.

Tough call to know what’s really going on there. They have a horrible captain, and when he’s out they make the next horrible sod captain. Bit of a shit storm at the minute.

I’m probably less adverse to it that I was. 6 months loan paying 50% of his salary. Going for a place in Europe. I might just take that gamble, alongside a couple of other signings.
