Lyle James Alfred Taylor

I'd agree with the lack of patience we seem to have, so many players we sign don't even get a single game and end up doing really well elsewhere, in the case of Lyle however, from what I've seen and his history in football, I just don't think he's quite got the minerals to be the man we need

Well constructed agreement Tommy, but how about we give him a chance and see?. How about that for a change?.

Thats unless we get Jamie Vardy wanting to do a reverse Wes Morgan...

I can't give him a chance, Hughton has to... and he's the one Forest manager in years who has pretty much stuck to the same team. He's vastly experienced as we all know, so with no disrespect to Sabri and those before him who chopped and changed, Hughton didn't play him for a reason.

I'm more disappointed by the likes of Mir not getting a proper chance and people like Gboly not even getting a single game after being at the club for 3 seasons, but that's history. Thank god.

I love how they have to make it more dramatic than it is. "Raid" their "Rivals" not "buy a second choice striker from another average championship side"

I am thinking this could be the biggest transfer window we have ever had to undertake with the number of players going, I just hope CH as got it under control

The next transfer window is is always 'the most important years', that sort of hyperbole has lost all meaning for me.

We've had a large amount of deadwood at the club for year that we've hoped to shift every window. We're also always just a couple of key signing away from a great chance of doing something that season.

Every summer and Jan sees the bulk of the deadwood remain and our big signings tend to be mostly underwhelming.

So I'll hope for the best, but this window is no more or less important than those that have gone before or those that are still to come.

I've liked Taylor but don't think he was really given a fair go, though I can see that others might argue that.

I liked how he pissed off other team's defenders, got physical with them and then didn't give a shit about squaring up after.

I mentioned earlier in the season (prior to knockers arriving) that I thought he was the best crosser we had in the team and that it's unfortunate that he was also the best threat from crosses.

Clearly Hughton doesn't think too much of him, which is whose opinion matters most and has most behind it.

Any striker will tell you and as one myself previously, you need a good run of games. Taylor has never had this coupled with the fact that service has been dire it's hardly surprising to anyone that's played the game that he has struggled. Unless we plan on bringing in almost cert for 15-20 goals (which will cost £6-£15M) then we should be giving him a proper shot at it.

Lets start raving about him so that Stoke don't change their minds - Nice to mug others off for a change instead of it happening to Forest

I was delighted when we signed him but as with Knockeart and Freeman, my joy was soon snuffed out.

Has plenty of energy but never lived up to the hype when given a chance. Was terrible in one on one situations.

I'd love to see some gymnasts attempting a reverse Wes Morgan with pike .....

As for Taylor, I wish him all the best, seemed a decent acquisition of a striker with a good lower league record at the time but Hughton's had a fair old look at him and doesn't seem to know what to do with him so if the bid's good then let him go.

Hang on what? Stoke are actually going to pay us for him? I almost feel sorry for them.

I thought there was a spell early-ish in Hughton's reign where he started to look a handful & was going to flourish. Never seemed to have the manager's faith though, which is a shame as I thought he was worth persisting with.

Some very harsh comments about Taylor on here. Until Grabban got a run of games towards the end of the season he was our top scorer. He would have scored those penalties that Grabban missed too.
I could be wrong, but iirc the only run of games he got included that 6 in a row vs the top 6 teams.

It was. Talk about setting him up to fail.

I can't argue with that HBB-I too trust CH so lets give him a chance once he's made the big calls.

I think we should be careful with the crowing comments at the moment just in case he comes back to bite us on the arse-I'm not at all sure that he won't as I think theres a decent striker in there!

I wish he got more of a chance in our team, I actually like the look of him, I think the early change in manager killed his chances at this club though.

He might do really well there and make us look mugs. He wouldn't be the first, or the last.

On the other hand, in five years after he's retired he might be telling the story of how he couldn't afford to finish the 20/21 season with Charlton because a Championship club were offering a ginormous contract for a forward over thirty with eleven Championship goals to his name. And we'll be saying 'yeah of course it was Forest that did that'.

I felt the same. Another one who never really got a proper run.

I like Taylor. He has been well under used. 15 starts and 24 sub appearances, scored 4 goals in those starts only played a total of 1719 minutes out of 4140.

He played just over half the season in a team mostly playing shit.

And it's all his fault.
