Kelechi Iheanacho

Can argue Calderwood was successful, Cotterill the exception that proves the rule.
Suppose he did get us up from League one. I also remember the season before when we threw away a decent top spot gap to crumble against Yeovil in the playoffs. We were also heading straight back down there before he got the boot.

Anyway, Iheanacho. Maybe a few season ago but not now unless we get desperate to fill spaces in attack.

I think forward is a major risk for us.

I’d be tempted to go shit or bust on a big money transfer for a quality striker. Then let the rest of the pecking order work itself out.

I'm kinda surprised how anti people are to the idea of Iheanacho as our third striker on a free transfer. I'd be genuinely interested to hear what names people would suggest as options for our third striker.

New first striker;
Awoniyi as 2nd striker;
Wood as 3rd striker.
Awoniyi hasn't shown he can stay uninjured and fit for a whole season.
Wood is another year older and while he did us proud last season, he cannot go on forever.
As for the new first striker, I'd be prepared to pay up to £50m for the right guy.

I’d flip Awoniyi and Wood but yep 50m on a #1

This is just so you can share the depression of keeping logging back into the transfer page hoping to see something new, only to see the Iheanacho or Che Adams one is the only one highlighted again.

I think people take for granted the 2 strikers we currently have

It’s going to be extremely hard and expensive to find somebody better than both of those players, I would just rather spend money elsewhere and buy somebody that’s capable of coming off the bench occasionally.

People talking about spending £50m on a striker that would marginally improve (or not at all) the output of our strikers. Makes no sense to me.

We would appear to be in a great situation regarding PSR.

Another relegation battle to finish 17th isn’t going to cut the mustard this year.

Upgrade at keeper, CB, forward incoming, IMO.

To be honest we lucked out with T as he has proven to be one of the best strikers in the division when fit and gets a run of games

And for Wood to have the season he just had is unbelievable even if some of us thought he would do okay most were not impressed with his signing and his first few games he did not play well because of injury

We keep them both fit they will get goals
T could easily get 20 +
Wood could get 10+

Its the keeping them fit part that is hard

We just need another striker that could get 15+ and we will do much better than last season

PL is now a 100 minute game where you basically use 15/16 players per game. I almost see Wood and Awoniyi splitting time across the season. Manage their game time, keep them fresh and maximise returns.

Get a proper #1 who has the ability to drift out left/right and play through the middle. Someone with real pace would be a bonus. Structure the attacking options around that. That would be my ideal scenario.

now that the great white hope , che adams has moved on, it's left to the nigerian prince - Iheanacho to save us. Time to resurrect this thread. Ha ha !
