MGW cost about £35m alone, and it took the likes of Awoniyi and Danilo time to settle in.

Plus not all gambles like those pay off. For every Awoniyi and Danilo, there's a Freuler and a Dennis.

What we'd need if we are losing one of our better players is proven quality who can make an impact right away. And that is going to be very expensive; you'd certainly have very little change left from £50m unless you are willing to roll the dice on gambles.
24 rising to 42. But even at 35m that makes him and Taiwo a smidge over 50.

Freuler was fine value. And we likely recoup most of that if we sell him.

The fact is that Brennan Johnson isn't THAT impactful right now. He had 0.34 goals and assists per 90 minutes.

Compare that to Taiwo (0.71), Nacho (0.90) or even Dennis (0.50). MGW was (0.40)

We played most of the year in systems designed to try and maximise BJ, often at the detriment to our shape elsewhere.

His end product isn't there yet. It may well get there, but as we are aiming to stay up again next year I think we could reinvest 50m into more end product than BJ currently gives us.

I love the lad, but let's not pretend he's currently a top drawer player, he isn't.

Isn't that impactful? Really? He was our top scorer for most of the season and scored some vital goals. We played most of the season in systems designed around Johnson because when Taiwo was out he was our only real threat for most of the season. A goal or assist every three games (or 0.34 G/A per 90 minutes) for a struggling side is also an excellent return.

He may not be the finished article yet, but he is easily one of our best and most important players, and was instrumental in both getting us into the Premier League and keeping us there.

As for investing £50m into more end product than Brennan Johnson, I think you are overestimating what £50m gets you in today's market, and underestimating how difficult it is to replace a player like Brennan (there's a reason why clubs would be interested in him at that price, after all).

He’s 4-5 years younger than all those players bar MGW. I bet he’s stats are better than any of those players at the same age.

He is also one of the fastest guys in the EPL and is nowhere near his peak.

AND his progression has been Lincoln loan League 1, Championship promotion, Premier League.

Can’t wait to see what he does for us next season. And I bet he can’t either.

Going nowhere this window, probably not the next one either.

Asking this here as no response on the pre-season thread:

Does anyone know what pre-season games will be televised?

I presume the ones in Spain won't be. I think I saw the PSV one is.

Anyone know about the County game?

Rennes and Frankfurt later?

Talk of selling Jonno is absolutely bonkers for me. You would need an absolutely world class attacking player to replace him. He does things that almost nobody else can due to his raw pace, see the Leicester home game as an example. He can get us goals and assists out of nothing, which are priceless. He has loads of areas where he can improve without much effort, having a quick look across the line a couple of paces before he shoots for example but, like others in our squad who have been pilloried over the recent past, he has stepped up to every challenge put in front of him and I'm certain he will do so again next season.

Today might be the day a few moves start to drop into line. Is this one that Cooper deems ‘close’ or are we still 2 weeks away?

Iheanacho was not seen in Leicester over the weekend.
Obviously, he has left the city ahead of his pending move to new club, widely acknowledged to be NFFC.

I was not seen in Leicester this weekend either, but then, I live in Germany (and also have a bit of taste; I wouldn’t go to Leicester, it’s a dump).

All of them. Details are on the Club Website.........£4.99 to watch.....the price of a pint in most of England.

Nottingham's dirty secret
Everton in for him now

To me it seems crazy that we haven't nabbed him to play with his Nigerian team-mates if we did indeed want him.

He'd be perfect. Wouldn't even need to move house & would be a perfect back-up/ competitor to Taiwo.

I heard rumours last weekend that he was going to Everton for £10 million.
No idea if it’s true.
