Let the big boys fight it out for Gyokeres, we can go under the radar with a cheeky bid for a striker in the prime of his life…

Something tells me that we'll go for Douglas Luiz from Juve, potentially on loan. Things haven't gone well for him there since his move from Villa and I bet he would welcome a move back to the PL. He's a player that I really liked at Villa and he was really starting to help himself to a fair few goals from midfield. Brazilian too so he passes that test already.

Crazy as this sounds I think that's unlikely because of his missus. He's dating Alisha Lehmann and they insisted that, if he was going to Juve, she was too so it ended up being a Villa to Juve double deal for the mens and womens teams. That makes me feel like Luiz coming here (or anywhere) in January would be a long shot unless they're both moving again.

Maybe things haven't gone well for him there on the pitch because they also aren't going well off it?

I think in January, the Club will be more likely to spend wisely on a young unknown striker from south america.
Prices are ridiculous in January, and established players are unlikely to be released with the season getting to a critical stage.
Selling clubs know that buying clubs are desperate.
Forest don't strike me as being desperate.
Big money is likely to be spent in the summer.

I would be incredibly surprised if we are looking to bring in yet another CM especially on loan

Juve signed him for 50+ million in the summer, I think you have to be crazy to think they would cut their losses or Luiz calling it quits after 7 games
I dispute that I'm as "crazy" as you descibe me. If you read my post again you'll see that I said "someone", not specifically in reference to Luiz.

one thing is for certain - I'm really glad that we don't need to buy a keeper this January!

It's the time of the year when the rumours "Forest's X will join Olympiacos in January" pop up on a daily basis. In most cases, there's nothing to the rumour. Names that have surfaced so far: Harry Toffolo, Ramon Sosa, Eric Da Silva Moreira. In my opinion, the only case which might seem credible is Toffolo. Incidentally, according to the Greek press there is interest for Sosa (for a loan) from Italy and Turkey.

One of Moreira or Toffolo will likely leave on loan/perm respectively.

I keep seeing us linked to wingers though, so while of course it could all be bollocks, it could also be that we don't think Sosa is quite ready yet and are looking to replace him (possibly temporarily) in January. Also we could really do with a left-footed winger, given we currently have 4 righties.

I definitely think EM is going to want to spend in January as he will be sniffing a European place (which I think is probably going to be out of reach for us this year, regardless).

With the CMs coming back, defence looking phenomenal and Sels playing well, I’d imagine we’re looking at attacking players. As others have said, Sosa looks a little like he needs some time and with Elanga being a little out of sorts it would not surprise me if we go big on a winger if one is available

I disagree your assessment of Sosa I think he is already an asset to our squad.

The Brazilian club he's buying have one of their most highly rated talents in Rayan - expect if/when he's ready he might come out way at some point.

I think Sosa looks exciting every time he gets on the pitch and is only lacking in game time to show what he can do.
I also like that he's not above a blatant and ridiculous foul when he thinks it necessary. The kid is class and will probably eclipse CHO who has looked a little bit like he's been found out by defences the past few games. He's started to look a bit like he runs to a dead end at times for me when he can't get inside and to the D.
Not that I also don't rate CHO but I think Sosa has more on the ball skills instead of just pace.

I don't disagree with you about Sosa, but CHO actually sealed the points for us in the last game but one.

Elanga the most likely winger to leave in my opinion.

No point loaning out Sosa, he's rightly 4th choice option at the moment and getting fifteen minutes here and there at our level in England will be better than playing first choice elsewhere.

Yeah he's been great for us, I just think that when he either can't out pace the defender or they are organised specifically to manage him well and also stop the overlap it all gets a bit stop and pass back and there isn't a plan B for him. It's not that there is something wrong with him it's just sometimes your favourite hammer is not the tool for the job.

I would keep Sosa here, too. I can just see him maybe being the odd one out short term if the recruitment team go for a winger.

That 50m for Elanga looks like a bad business decision in hindsight, although we probably wouldn’t be having this kind of success so far if we had sold him, so it’s arguable. I hope he gets back to that instinctive play that makes him so dangerous, I really think he’s got the talent to be outstanding.

He has surprised me in being more ready than I thought and as a mid/lower mid team that’s fine. If EM wants to push for Europe then he’s a bit off the quality required IMO
Give the guy a bit of time.
Massive change in his life over the last 3 months - far too early to make that judgement
