I think he looked decent when he came on and he did in the last game. Credit to him for squaring the ball to Taiwo to completely kill the game when so many players would have shot.

That goal will have done Taiwo the world of good.

I hope JWP keeps improving as/if he features more.

You can't downplay how important it is being comfortable taking your best players off. Because JWP is a real pro and a solid player MGW doesn't run when tired for 10minutes, potentially helping prevent injury further down the line, and the guy coming on acts like a leader, and gets an assist.

I think it's easy as "normal" people to feel players aren't worth the money we read about, but in footballs crazy world a few million for a player like that makes a huge difference, even if you can't always see it. Even if it's 10 minutes seeing a game out it's worth it, add the fact he started v Liverpool which I think is the result you can point to that gave us the confidence to see games out, and a few million is nothing

I know it has been mentioned elsewhere, but I have to say that he put in a great performance today.

Not only his dead ball deliveries (which we were unfortunate to get nothing from), but his all round play.

I would agree that he is a real pro, and should we lose MGW to injury he might be able to step in. Looks like he is here for the rest of the season and playing like he did today shows he has something to offer us. Nice option to have off the bench.

Genuinely don't know why he gets so much flack

Experienced Premier League campaigner who does everything right, with the added bonus of his dead ball deliveries

Thought he was one of our best players yesterday
He has received criticism for his lack of influence at Premier League level.
He played brilliantly yesterday, but that was against struggling championship opposition.
Different kettle of fish.
He has the credentials to do it at the Prem level, but other than the odd contribution he has not delivered consistently for us ... yet.
I agree we keep him for the rest of the campaign.
If he clicks back into consistent good form he will make a difference.

My mate (West Ham fan) says the only thing he does well is his dead ball delivery. Outside of that, it’s like playing against 10 men when he’s on the pitch.

We’ve already dropped 3m on him, so we might as well spend the other 3m, unless someone better becomes available and we need the squad space.

I do wonder if our improved crossing ability is down to his influence in training?

If we can’t send him back, then we need to trim the squad if we want to bring someone in.

I don’t think he’s been anywhere near as bad as some make out.

He does a lot of the unappreciated work and makes things easier for his teammates. He’s also a proper leader and an experienced head and that’s something that could prove immensely valuable in the run in. It’s hard to evidence but I also think bringing the likes of him and Milenkovic in have really helped bring their experience and professionalism and improved ownership and helped take us forward.

When Sangare and Danilo are back, there’s an awful lot of CM competition, but I’d be surprised if we don’t see him make some key contributions over the course of the season and there’s no one I’d want more over a dead ball in stoppage time of the final game of the season, with a CL place on the line.

That's what I thought, but Potter didn't say that - he said he can't return until the end of the season due to the contract, or words to that effect.

Contracts can always be renegotiated if all parties (including JWP himself here) agree.

Irrespective of whether or not he can be recalled, he has played for West Ham this season, so can't go out on loan or be sold to another club.
