I'm glad we got JWP in given the numbers we have available in central midfield, but I think it's fair to say we miss Danilo. No shame in that, any team of our status would miss a player with his quality. Even more so with MGW out - Danilo is really the only other player in the squad that can consistently play those defence-splitting passes like Morgan does.

Done alright for me.

Part of a team effort that got credible results vs Liverpool and Brighton. Less said about Saturday the better but that wasn't a JWP problem.

Set piece delivery has been OK but we definitely need to make more of them.

As it currently stands he's done enough to just about retain his spot as one of the holding two central midfielders alongside either Anderson or Yates.

If we're playing a CM on the right, I'd have JWP there and Anderson in the 8. More creativity and bite in the middle from Anderson, meanwhile JWP can do what he's best at and get plenty of crosses in.

A case of win and everyone is great, lose and most players are felt wanting.

The truth is somewhere in the middle.

Was Fulham an off day, like Liverpool's was against us?

Time will tell, I suppose.

I asked my old Saint's supporting mate (he was an apprentice at The Dell, until a torn catilage ended his potential career as a professional footballer - them were the days before keyhole surgery) about JWP.
His summation: a really lovely bloke, and very intelligent. Would always cover a lot of ground, but didn't tackle, couldn't make a killer pass but was reliable passing sideways to another Saints' player, or back to the centre-halves or goalie.
Not very robust physically.
But what a dead-ball exponent!
He also said every Saints fan he knows agrees Saints had WHU's pants down when WH paid £30m for him.
But a really nice chap and good to have as a luxury player.

Yes, the Clingan comparison is quite accurate, though admittedly Clingan played for us in League 1 and JWP is much better, their attributes are similar.

I'm not really sure what use a CM who doesn't tackle and just makes short passes would be useful to us without adding an extra body in CM to cover what we need to do. Even though his set pieces are better than the others, as yet we haven't scored from one, or as a result of one, so actually this isn't offering any benefit either at the moment - but then we haven't had much chance.

He's experienced cover and will do fine considering he is on loan, as we have Dani and Sangare out at the moment, and the only other options are Nico, Package and Anderson. One of those is a kid who seems to have fitness issues as he hasn't really played 90mins for us yet and the other two can't play it all.

Well I still hope he proves totally wrong, racks up even more numbers than he usually does and proves west ham underpaid for for him to the tune of about 50 mil. I hope...

Meh, he's fine enough. But he does need to up his dead ball game to balance out his lack of progressing the ball forward if he wants to keep starting.

By jove fellahs...he's only played 3 games for us.
And crikey it’s not like Forest fans to write a player off after five minutes, is it?

Oh. Wait.

He's been solid but today he had an absolute mare

Was crap the whole game made mistakes he ultimately took two yellow cards for

Not convinced, personally. He's the best dead ball specialist in the league, but dead ball goal scoring situations aren't something we create a lot of, so I'm not sure why he's here

It was a good delivery to Milenkovic to head on to Wood for our goal before anyone jumps on me

I thought he was good until the sending off. Perfect ball for a well executed set piece routine which created a goal from nothing.

Offered angles, filled passing lanes and moved the ball well. He’s never going to grab plaudits for his non set piece play as he’s a quietly effective midfield player, the sort we have never warmed to as a fan base.

Awful touch for the red and I think it’s a bad decision to grab the ball as id take 11 men and a break from the half way line over 10 men. But I can understand why he did it.

I don’t think he was crap the whole game at all Infact I think he played very well. With hindsight it was absolutely the right thing to do to grab the ball.

I think people have been really harsh on him since he’s come in.

Up until the mistake/red I thought that was his best game for us so far - nothing flashy, just some intelligent off the ball work and decemt defensive positioning.

According to my old man there was a moment he checked back and went backwards with a pass and the coaching staff went ballistic at him - this fills me with hope; if we can get him to be more dynamic with his passing choices he'll be a much better player for it.

Not sure what kind of game time he'll see in the next three - the Leicester game will come in the middle of a ban and a game he won't be able to play in.

In my book he a near certainty to play against Leicester. With MGW likely to be out for a few games, Danilo and Sangare out for another 3 months, we are looking a bit light in midfield. Jota and Dominguez are both going to get more game time. Let’s hope Anderson, Yates l, Jota, and Dominguez stay fit!

My hope is that our issues give Dominguez an opportunity to really push on and show his worth...

I'm still in the 'need to be convinced' club with JWP but I also thought he was quietly effective until the mistake.
