Jamaal Lascelles

We sold Dawson and Reid years ago for £4m each when we were under pressure to sell. Likewise Jenas at £5m.

Look at some of the transfers of our league in recent years. James McCarthy went for £13m from Wigan, so did Steven Fletcher, Matt Jarvis £8.5m, Jay Rodriguez £7m...

List goes on. Lascelles will be a better player than all of those given time. I'd value him, currently, at £9m, and I wouldn't sell him for that. The guy oozes class and is 20 years old with a handful of Championship games under his belt.

Darlow isn't quite to the same level, but is nonetheless a very adept keeper who could cut it in the Premier League. £6m would see me tempted.

It seems like a lot but we're going for promotion and don't need the money given Fawaz's position.

I agree, but the fact that Fawaz has bulked at Hobb's personal terms, makes me worry, makes me think we are not the care free spending team Billy and Fawaz want us to believe.

Hopefully I will be porven wrong by the end of the window.

Do we want to be though?

Should we really be reckless in the transfer market, with the owner throwing money around like a drunken sailor on shore leave?

It is after all his money. And he's already apparently putting in several million pounds this season, just keeping us afloat.

Yeah, just look at the likes of Leicester and Cardiff. Proof you can't spend your way out of the league.

QPR too. Fulham (Tigana) and Sunderland (Keane) did it before that.

The reason Fulham got promoted? They signed a goalscorer for £2.1m called Louis Saha who tore up this league with 27 goals. I wonder if they regret spending that money for successive seasons in the Premier League and all the television money since then?

Keane also bought a goalscorer called David Connolly, who finished as their top scorer when they got promoted.

Guess what? Harry Redknapp bought a goalscorer this season called Charlie Austin.

Leicester. They have strikers that are goalscorers. Nugent, Vardy, Wood, Phillips.

Burnley. They have goalscorers. Ings and Vokes.

And we have Greg Halford, what's your point?

Picture this:

Newcastle United get relegated. Forest get promoted. Our back 5 on the opening day of the 20/21 EPL season is:

Samba
Ribeiro Worrall Lascelles Cash

I would LOVE it.

Lascelles is good enough to step up to a top six club imo.

God damn I don't think there is a current player I'd rather see in the Garibaldi [heart speaking, not head]

Timothy Pope

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
I’d like to see him go to a top 6 club for a fee similar to Maguire. Assuming that Fawaz wasn’t stupid enough to not negotiate a sell on

I was thinking the other day that young fit footballers don't seem to have much trouble with covid19 and then we hear that Jamaal is suffering quite badly with the effects of covid some considerable time after his diagnosis.

Just shows that it's a menace to be avoided. Hope Jamaal comes through OK.

Mmmmm... If this wasn't about a modern footballer then I may have agreed.

The X Box will be getting some hammer.
