Jamaal Lascelles

If we're offered anything more than £5m then sell. Yes he's good.. But not that good. We have good defensive cover, so much so that when Kelvin is fit again he might not be in the side. £5m could be very useful to bolster our strike force. Given our other options at the back and profligacy in front of goal I'd rather have Wickham if he carries on banging them in than Jamal as good as he is. .
Let's look at it like this £5 million is not good enough we sold Jenas to Newcastle for that how many years ago....inflation etc should mean at least £8 million especially with how much more money there is in the premiership now

It's a simple issue of cash flow.. we'll see what happens. I very much doubt he'll be going anywhere. In the short term would you rather have Halford up top and keep Jamal or solve our striker void and cover with Collins/Halford until Kelvin is fit again? I agree, long term Jamal might be worth much more but if we wait perhaps we run the risk of foregoing our best chance of promotion for another few years

Darlow, Lascelles, Lansbury and Paterson are the spine of the team that can take us up, if not this year then soon. If we can add Wickham even better.

We should keep them together long term at all costs. If we sell them we will spend more time in the Championship waiting for the next crop. We have already lost Bamford from this lot.

Imagine if we had kept Jenas, Dawson, Reid and Wright Phillips in our team for the last ten years. I doubt we'd be a championship club now. It's time we realised the value of our young players. We could not buy a center back of Lacelles quality, or a keeper of Darlow's standard. The only way to have that quality in the side is to keep hold of it.

Wasn't bothered about Pep going as he was 29, a bit of a journeyman and £2.5M was reasonable. Lansbury, Lascelles and Darlow are the future spine of a Nottingham Forest premier league team for 10 years. Add Wickham and that would be even better.

...plus some of the senior players... Lichai at LB is a revelation; Hobbs at CB - Captain's armband please.
Jara is not bad at RB either...
Billy's problems are still in the strikers' positions.
And that has been a feature of many of Billy's teams over the years.

I agree. We've got some really decent senior pro's as well. We're pretty close to having a very good good team.

Does Lascelles contract run out in 2016? There really does seem like there's no reason to sell him.

I'm not saying we should sell Darlow either, but is Evtimov still a GK who's meant to have massive potential? There was a lot of talk about him becoming better than Darlow was meant to, however this was before he established himself in the first team.

Highlights of that whole interview are definitely:

NJ: ''So what about a striker?''

Fawaz: ''I can play striker.''

And:

Fawaz: ''Lascelles can one day play for one of the very, very big teams, like Nottingham Forest.''

Both followed by a cheeky grin. What a guy.

We're hearing that Liverpool scouts were at Nottingham Forest's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Preston North End on Friday night to watch defender Jamaal Lascelles and goalkeeper Karl Darlow. Lascelles has also attracted interest from Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham, while Spurs and Manchester City are also reported to be keen on Darlow.

Wasted journey, as Lascelles didn't play!

Should be more like £20 million for both darlow and lascelles.

Premier league scum

Crikey I nearly fell off my chair reading that!

Was you feeling Ok last night?

On a serious note we must keep hold of Lascelles. The current 3m price being branded about is an insult.

It is an insult, but it's the media just grabbing figures out the air. No point getting upset about it.

Ha! After the Hobbs debacle you'd be pretty stupid not to take that with a massive pinch of salt.

Next time I'll make sure I'll consult Mystic Meg before posting something that could prove to be risible due to future events.

What would Lascelles and Darlow be worth to sell? Less than £10 million, thats for sure.

It's so hard to value a player. Was Andy Carroll worth a deal up to 35m? no chance.

It's about how much the current club is willing to sell, the new club wants them, the experience of the players, and their potential.

There's been talk of 5m deals for Lascelles for years, but most of that would be in add-ons anyway. When he was 16 he was through of a genuine future England centre-back.

As a fan, ignoring all logic, i'd be disappointed if either went for less than deals worth £5m each. But it's natural to value your own players higher.

Ignorant of values though, both have a legitimate opportunity of being international footballers.
