Jamaal Lascelles

Personally I think Lascelles should be in the 1st team squad now for every game. The boy is 19 he looks as if he has matured physically & has shown in his very few outings for the first team that he is an able replacement for either Kelv or Hobbs.

I dare say he would have done a better job than Halford did against Boro & Yesterday at Donny.

I think given the chance this season he would blossom very quickly & I could even see him towards the end of the season becoming a first team regular alongside Wilson. I do like the thought of that partnership got to be honest I think in time that would be even better than Hobbs & Wilson.

He's not looked ready from what I've seen as yet. Very good potential and worthy of a place on the bench.

I hope he does play on Tuesday Burnley will be a good test for the lad. We need to develop him & he's only going to do that playing and being involved with the first team.

If he can't get on the bench when we have a defender out injured then I really think loaning him out should be a viable option. I am sure a fair few teams would be willing to take him, he definately has the ability, just needs games and there is no point letting him play reserve team football when he could be getting better.

How do you make a kid better? Play him. He's not going to get much better playing in a non-existent reserves side and in training. Billy never ever gives the kids a go. What's the point in even having the damn academy?

I think Tuesday is a great opportunity to start him. Hopefully if he makes a mistake he won't be immediately written off like admittedly only stupid people have done with Chalobah. "Oh, he's not Pep" etc.

I hope he is in the starting XI on Tuesday.

Given the opposition, helping the side to win will go a long way towards him laying a couple of ghosts.

he really needs to be loaned out, hes 5th choice atm and not even getting on the subs bench is doing his development no good

Needs to go out on loan, don't want him in the first team, would rather have players with proven ability and experience and push on for the top 2.

Yes he's young and inexperienced but he's only going to get better with minutes on the pitch. Should he be behind Collins in the pecking order?

We needed pace at the back on sat which he has, think Billy is being very selfish keeping him as a 5th choice rather than loaning him out. He's not going to develop at all playing under 21 football. That is one of my biggest gripes with Billy, he is too short sited, he would rather bring in a stellar loan, thn push through a youngster hoping they will shine. In no way do I think he should start games ahead of hobbs and wilson, but he definitely deserves a spot on the bench ahead of danny collins who's pretty much reaching the end of his career as a championship footballer.

I don't like to big up Nigel Clough because I think he's an awful manager, but you have to admire his policy with youth players. Hughes and Hendrick have both performed very well and valuations have soared. There is also Mason Bennett who has been given a chance at a very young age and Derby still only finished 6 points below us, obviously that was due to the managerial changes but it's still not a massive difference!

We've lost Patrick Bamford who is now scoring for fun in league one, it would be a massive shame to lose any more talents! Most of our current under 21s were in the team that beat a southampton youth team 5-1 in the youth cup, the southampton team included luke shaw and ward-prowse now playing rugularly for them in the premier league. We then lost 4-3 after being 3-0 up against chelsea in the youth cup and it was only tiredness and goal keeping errors that lost it for us! Chelseas team that night included Chalobah, Ake and Lucas Piazon, yet in the first half forest and especially Dave Morgan ran the show! Speaking of Dave morgan, he was recently named player of the tournament at the prestigious milk cup and is a ball winning midfielder, why not give him the chance to shine and replace Pep rather than sign Chalobah, who knows how he would have done!? Then there is Jamaal Lascelles who got picked for the England Under 20s squad, this summer ahead of Liam Moore of Leicester, who is now getting rave reviews partnering Wes Morgan at Leicester.

I can see peoples counter argument being "well Davies stuck with Darlow in goal" he may have done, however do you really think if he was manager when McCleish was here, that Darlow would have stayed, or do you think we would have loaned a keeper from the premier league, I know which I think would have happened!

I know obviously that the main aim is results, but I honestly do think we could bring in through some quality players from the academy into the first team, rather than developing other teams players and paying their ridiculous wages. As you never know we may find a gem, after all this is our so called academy golden generation!

Loan him out or sell him while his potential can command a good price. All we're doing at the moment is ensuring he does not develop into a good footballer; we don't want to end up releasing him at the end of his contract, with him barely having made a handful of senior appearances and being a poor player as a consequence. He's a good academy prospect and I don't want to sell him, but if we're not loaning him out I'd much rather we sold him than ruined his career.

Would much prefer to see the fella on the bench instead of Collins. If we can ease him in through cup games, then perfect. I sense that just one outstanding performance might serve as a springboard into the first team. But we can't afford to give him that chance to shine in a league match at the moment. Let's see how he does against Burnleh and take it from there.

Central defenders usually aren't ready until they've got about 100 games under their belt and generally begin to mature at around 23. If they're good enough then there comes a time when the manager has to take a chance before the boat is completely missed.

Notts have been crying out for a decent centre half for weeks, why have we not sent him there? He could even still train with us if we wanted.

I'd like to see him start on Tuesday too.
After that a loan spell seems like a good idea.

He will most likely start on Tuesday, as he did against Millwall.

Having him play alongside Collins is no bad thing as he can learn a lot from him.

Jamaal has the raw tools, but he needs experience now - and he will only get that from playing regular matches.

If we get knocked out on Tuesday, then I would hope we send him on loan to either a top end League One club or lower Championship side for him to play some football.

How many academy starlets on leaving Forest have been successful elsewhere in the last 5 years?

Its a results business. People are moaning like f*** because we drew at Doncaster. NLN has got away with it because there has been no expectation at Derby (until this season). Easing young startlets into a team is difficult unless they are exceptional. I would argue that Hughes is pretty exceptional, Lascelles is a decent quality 19 year old but at his current age is not exceptional. Until expectations become more realistic it will always be difficult to blood new talent. The best compromise is for them to go out on loan like Darlow and get 50-100 games under there belt that way. So once we go out of the cup that would appear to be the best route for Lascelles. Notts County would be a good shout.

We should definitely loan him out, he needs to be playing for us to really see his potential. I know this might get hated, but maybe to a team like Notts County in League 1? A team that's struggling at the moment, give him a real challange.

Btw has anyone else seen Lascelles walking around outside the ground before a game? I see him most Saturdays walking bast the Brian Clough stand entrys.
