interview with Lansbury

Couldn't find a dedicated thread for him.

He has announced that he suffered from testicular cancer whilst playing for us in 2016. Just shows that it can affect anyone, no matter how fit and athletic they are.
Awful disease, he was a young man back in 2016 at the peak of health and fitness, haven’t watched the video as I’ve had enough sad news lately, poor lad.

Sauce salad?
I think it came from a place of frustration. Most of us could see that he had potential to be much better than he was showing - and instead he seemed to play down to the level of his team-mates.
What's interesting about him is that, while always looking like he had an extra gear, statistically we saw the best of him.

It might well be that the potential that lots saw, myself included, was misplaced, and that we actually saw the very best of him.

Ok. Some thread tidying up has happened.

It's being dealt with upstairs.

I would also add, in support of @Flaggers post above, that there are some things that it is incredibly crass to try and make jokes about.

And cancer is very much one of those.

Perhaps those thinking it was a subject to poke fun at, might reflect on those who’ve lost loved ones to that disease.

I loved the penalties - spectacularly hard, right down the middle.

Everyone knew that's where is was going - I'm fairly certain some of the keepers dived just to get out of the way.

Ale ape.
Such is the prevalence of that disease I'd think most people have been affected by it one way or another. My father in law has gone from physically able, to bed ridden and looking like an inmate from Auschwitz in the space of a couple months. I don't find that very amusing.
Sorry to hear that Dirk.
Unfortunately I watched my Mum go through a 17 year battle with cancer, starting around the time I was sitting my A-Levels. So have seen exactly what you describe.

Nottingham's dirty secret
Always thought Lansbury was one of the few shining lights during the Fawaz era and was/still is harshly treated.

Probably never fulfilled his potential but he was certainly one of our best players when he was here.
Same.

Don't and never did get the hate. Bit of a fancy Dan but it was just nice to have a bit of quality amongst a lot of dross. Same with Guedioura- never reached the heights I thought he could have but was class to watch.

So why was my post deleted? I said nothing untoward.

Did you perhaps quote one of the untoward posts in your post?

Possibly .
I can’t properly remember what I put- never mind what I quoted lol

Yeah, sorry, you quoted the original post and we decided in the circumstances to remove the original posts and those quoting it, just to tidy up.

You - and the others who quoted the originals, most condemning them, have done no wrong here.

Indeed - and a thank you from the Moderating Team - we had a significant number of users report the original content within a few minutes of it being posted, all of who were united in condemning it. In fact, I cannot recall a previous instance of so many people reporting the same post in such a short period of time, in all the years I’ve been here, which says something.

Indeed. Max I've ever seen was 4 people reporting a post .

This has smashed that unwanted record.

Just goes to show you don't know what's going on. Though I don't seem to recall it affecting his availability or performances an awful lot.

Good to see it was picked up, treated and dealt with at the time and no-one seemed to know, which is absolutely how it should be unless the player wants it to be known.

If a player's not available and the club isn't giving much away, I guess we don't and shouldn't have the right to know why... it could be serious, or sensitive (and not even necessarily an injury).

You will not need to, because they’ve been permanently banned.

He will be on the phone to his lawyers right now for misgendering

3 things I'd like to add to this thread:

Firstly, Cancer is an absolutely vile disease. Having lost loved ones to it I genuinely can't comprehend people how people can make fun of people who have experienced it, directly or indirectly. When I lost someone I felt like you have to go through the grieving period twice, once for the person they once were and then again when they finally succumb to the disease. Dreadful thing that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Secondly, Henri Lansbury was one of those players that I think understandably split opinion. When he was on it he was like a Rolls Royce, and made playing look effortless. This made it noticeable when he wasn't on it as his natural laid back style coupled with the Cockney jack the lad persona he had (which may not be the case but is how he came across) infuriated you when he didn't perform every week. I think it depends what side of the fence you view football, appreciate what you have or wish that what you have fulfil their potential at your club. I think I'm in the latter camp until they leave and then appreciate what you had, like when your missus drives you mad but when she leaves you you wish she would nag on at you about tidying up again as you sit lying in filth.

Lastly, I don't think it's said enough how good a job the moderators do on this forum. The internet can be a horrible place and the effort you guys go to to ensure that fans can come on here, discuss Forest/football/life in general without subjecting themselves or others to the hate the internet can bring is brilliant. I'm generally a lurker here but this kinda struck a chord and thought it was worth saying.

Thank you for that, I am sure, on behalf of my fellow Mods, it’s nice to get a nod of appreciation!
