interview with Lansbury

I think he needs to shave his head again. He looked more like a dynamic centre mid with his buzz cut. He's looks more whiny hipster now. Image is everything.

Against Shef Weds Lansbury did the same as he's suggesting Nolan did, got in their players faces and one of them was carded - then he scored.

That's a clever footballer. Problem is you cannot do it all the time and since then Lansbury has picked up a lorry load of yellow cards, so I think ref's are wise to his antics.

Even is this part of the game its a team effort and like he says during this interview (which I think is amazing) the team is a little naive, now Hobbs is back (nobody has mentioned his 1v1 with Martin influencing the ref on Saturday), Reid soon to return, it will be harder for ref to pin point one player who pushes the fair play guidelines.

I like this but not when the whole team goes ape shit at ref's its got to be subtle.

Also got the feeling he's a London boy and he needs a Northern lass to tie him down, because having two homes plus travelling through his professional cannot be easy. One of the causes of mental stress is tiredness.

A good read. Seems pretty grounded to be fair but at the same time he needs to develop his leaderships skills. He is one of the longer servers in the squad now.

Didn't think he was too bad Saturday, certainly not at his best in an attacking sense but solid in the middle, apart from the 5 minute period he nearly scored a hat-trick of own goals.

Derby fans on their forum seem to think he (along with Tesche and Gardner) bossed Hendrick and Bryson.

You are right, fairly poor in first half (gave it away constantly) but he was awesome in the second half!

When that own goal went in he could have gone either way but luckily for us it spurred him on rather than go into his shell!

I was on my phone at half time checking Twitter and everybody was slagging him off saying he doesn't care.

What a load of rubbish. His reactions at the end says how much it cares to him. I'm personally bored of the scapegoating - the same people that complain about impatience towards the managers are the same people that slate and geer players after bad performances, despite him being one of our better players for the past three seasons and the same ones that were cheering when he signed a contract extension. It doesn't make much sense to me.

People look into things too much about "not caring" or various other things. Those issues are only picked up on when all is not going well for players. I'm sure people will be saying Antonio doesnt care after a few bad games as well.

I'm an advocate of the idea that teams should be built around haircuts. You need a couple of shaved heads, a few standard short back and sides, a long haired foreigner and at least one side parting. Footballing skill is irrelevant

I always think a team needs a 'going bald but refuses to accept it' player in there

Graham Hyde was a solid one of those.

Gervinho is the 2015 superstar version.

He seems like a 'late maturer' - I've got two lads in their 20s, one of them was mentally-ready for the adult world at 20, the other is still struggling as he approaches 24, but the signs are there.

What was Andy Reid's attitude like as a 24 year old.....because from my recollection he was a fat bastard on the Spurs bench.

Henri is just a lad who needs guidance and leadership on and off the field and on the field that's certainly been lacking with the injuries we've had.

He's a top player and he just needs the penny to drop.

I think Lansbury has been taking a lot of stick this season for his performances and has become a bit of a scapegoat. In some ways he's a victim of his own success due to the high standards he reached last season where he was a player you wouldn't drop. Then the rumours that went around that he might join Burnley if he wasn't given an improved contract. So with that in mind some people find it unacceptable when he's not playing well.

If a player is suffering mentally and isn't reaching his optimum performance I think we need to do everything we can to show him some loyal support, like we're showing to the manager in his difficult periods. That's only fair.

The one area we should criticise him on is his discipline. He needs to sort himself out on that one as that can be controlled more easily than his mental state.

I don't think that playing as a number 10 suits him at all, he looks better when he is involved and around the ball more from a deeper position.

Think that's universally agreed mate, its just that he's been poor there as well.

Lets hope his fist pumping at Prideless meant he's gonna get back in the fold.

Lansbury got a lot of stick from some, but his contribution stands up pretty well I think, with a goal involvement every three games from midfield over 150 games. He got 10 g/a the season after this too I think.

Never really hit the heights he seemed capable of and being a bit of a lad about town (shopping!) and getting himself Xmas off every year didn't really help him.

Surprising never heard a word about it, but it is astonishing how quickly these things are dealt with on the private, scanned and operated on in a day. Suppose that's the upside of private healthcare
