To be clear the intended consequence is to penalise supporters who buy away tickets purely to protect their priority status. It is difficult to argue against this.I wouldn't call it an unintended consequence.
I'd be pretty sure that the bloke in charge of ticketing DIDN'T walk in one morning, bash out that email and send it out to a bulk recipient list.
I'd be confident in saying that it will surely have been reviewed by someone else in the club hierarchy, and approved.
Consequently, the only thing that can be concluded is that this message, this tone, this confrontational style IS the style that Forest WANT to push, the attitude they want to convey.
Not an unintended consequence - this would appear to be a deliberately engineered approach.
It's the "we don't give a shit, f*** you" approach.
And it only works while you have the temporary (and fragile) position we currently occupy - demand equals or exceeds supply.
You're buggered when the tables turn.
There are many MANY ways to rephrase that kind of email (and all the emails and for example social media posts weaponising e.g. the ticketing system and waiting list etc) to convey the same message but with a wholly different tone which would go a long way to keeping people on-side.
Instant case in point - the press release re Container Corner:

As written, the home crowd is there as the entertainment..the cabaret, if you will..for the corporate corner people. "Put your prawn sandwiches down for a minute and listen to the silly people sing their song."
One word changed - "from" to "with" conveys the same message, but brings the corporate into the crowd - we're all doing this together.
I guess it all depends on what message you want to convey.
The unintended consequence is to penalise those who:
1. Attend the game but are let down by the failure of the home club to record their attendance.
2. cannot attend for good reason at short notice e.g. health issues especially the disabled/chronically ill.
I support your view that these decisions are made at very senior level without understanding the full consequences.
Every PL Club has to have suitable policies and standards regarding supporter engagement. At Forest we have six supporter bodies and two individual representatives on the Fan Advisory Board. Are they properly consulted on these issues? If not, why not? Importantly, what are they doing about it?
Supporter bodies have to up their game on these issues and hold the club to account. As I posted none of the bodies or individuals on the NFFC FAB attended the action at Leicester City despite the call for support from the Football Supporters Association.
This week Man Utd announced no concessions for their remaining home fixtures regarding the 3,000 available tickets for each game - a flat rate of £66 irrespective of age. Supporters at all PL clubs are being affected and it’s time to make our collective voice heard.
