François Modesto - Technical Director

Re: Francesco Modesto - Technical Director

Strange that this has now become formal when some sort of arrangement has been in place seemingly for months. And if the whole Karanka situation didn't quite make sense, with appointing a manager then a DoF above him, which changes the dynamic anyway, then (appointing MON aside) the current structure follows with the next appointment, where the DoF is appointed and stays (quite what MW was doing with his own DoF is different and an odd scenario) appointing effectively head coaches into the existing structure will make more sense long term.

It's clear the previous approach of appointing a manager, sacking them after a few months, then overhauling the squad to suit the new manager is unsubstainable and doesn't work, but this was also clear at the time. Whereas bringing in to suit the resources already there, within reason, and develop them is a better situation.

On the inevitable occasion that SL is no longer our manager, if Modesto has actually put the squad together he would no doubt appoint someone with similar ideas.

More people for the angry mob to say "get out our club" about when we lose away to Millwall.

They can f*** off. We've not hit our best yet this season but are 2nd in the league (only on GD) in mid October; when was the last time we threatened the top 6 seriously, let alone the top 2?

Over-reaction to small blips is the reason we have this shitty cycle with sacking off managers for no reason after not long enough

We are unlikely to be unbeaten between now and when promotion is confirmed at season's end.
That should not prompt an outcry and heads to roll.

If by DoF above Karanka you mean Dourekas, I have pointed out more than once that he's no DoF, no matter what his title is (the proof being that he's still in place despite the appointment of Modesto).

If one trusts the Greek press, Modesto's involvement did not become official earlier because it was minimal before this summer. O'Neill preferred the managerial model, in which the manager calls all the shots.

Again according to the Greek press, Lamouchi was Modesto's suggestion for January, but Lamouchi declined, claiming he did not know the needs of the league and of the team. He certainly did his homework since.

In any case, I doubt that Modesto will single-handedly choose the next manager, whenever that day comes. His opinion will weigh heavily, obviously, but so will the Board's opinion (which seems to have prevailed in January), and the final call will be EM's.

Oh, and could a mod please change his first name to François in the thread's title for those of us with language OCD?

Never mind Technical Directors, we obviously need a new Senior Doom Monger. Current one appears to have gone all 'happy' on us.

and realistically had we not played muric on the first game of the season and started with brice, we would be top.

If the current manager keeps performing like he's set off then I'm sure the board will be allowing him to select the next one too.

Nearly 2 hours and the names still wrong tut tut LTLF not good enough for Nottingham Forest

Where’s the supporters trust when you need them? Don’t they normally fix the important stuff to do with this club?

If the current manager keeps performing like he's set off, wouldn't it be wiser to just, I don't know, keep him?

In an ideal world. Obviously the more successful he becomes along with his obvious quality to improve players with his coaching the more he will attract interest from top flight clubs.
