Let's face it, everyone has their own view on which players were and were not a waste of money, some will be more agreed upon than others. With the vast majority though, there was some logic to signing them at the time, and there was a hope they could contribute. Even Jonjo Shelvey (though I personally was not happy about him at the time, or since). We had a choice between signing a bunch of players, or getting relegated. Some gambles paid off, others didn't. Easy to say with 100% hindsight which were mistakes.

BUT the ones that stand out to me now as egregious cock-ups are Bowler and Hwang. Never any hope they would help us if they aren't even at the club.

We do if we've broken the rules.

System might be weighted towards certain clubs, but we should be accepting that and being smarter and better anyway.

Football is bent AF and has been for years. That's not an excuse we can hide behind though.
Forest can complain all they want about the Rules, and yes, we know FFP is a bent excuse to protect the so-called „Big Six“, but the rules are there, and it is the duty of the club to know what they are and to abide by them.

If - and it‘s an if at the moment - Forest are punished, then they only have themselves to blame.

but still, I don't see what choice we had other than to bring in most of those players.

Some didn't work out but that is always the case. Even the likes of Bowler were presumably signed for this season had we been relegated, but sending him to Oly made sense to get him action in a lower level team (but then I guess they could have loaned back which they did eventually).

Hwang seemed a bit of a waste of money and still does, and then you wonder why we got Hennessey in when Horvath would probably have done...

Put our crest on a Man City jersey and when the FA come calling just say "Nottingham Forest? Nah, never heard of them, mate. We're City Forest."

That might work.

We brought in more than we could fit into a 25 man squad.

We have to accept some level of culpability here.

Basically the ones we didn't register or send out on loan were players from the promotion (Cook, Cafu, Taylor) who by all accounts weren't good enough, or bomb squad like Arter.

Fact remains there weren't too many we signed and didn't just loan straight out or who weren't in the 25 man squad at one point.

Then there was the likes of Richards or Biancone who were injured.

I guess the question marks are really over the likes of Bade, Dennis, Scarpa, Ayew...

I even enjoyed our time in L1, mainly because I just love the experience on a matchday.
OK, it is really good to see terrific technically gifted players in the Prem, but at the end of the day all I know as being certain in this life is Death and Taxes.
So, to have the thrill of a matchday when I'm going to see my heroes is a pleasure I shall enjoy every matchday.
Because, at the age of almost 70 I know the number of matchdays I will be able to enjoy is finite...
Sorry again, but getting dicked in the third division play off semi by Yeovil has to go down as one of the worst experiences of my life.

A Forest statement read: “Nottingham Forest acknowledges the statement from the Premier League confirming that the club has today been charged with a breach of the league’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

“The club intends to continue to cooperate fully with the Premier League on this matter and are confident of a speedy and fair resolution.”

Although it made for a few good memes, Forest brought in a ridiculous amount of players, given you are limited to a squad of 25 plus youth products.

It was unstructured, careless, and chaotic, the result of an approach that was a complete mess.

Many of them were pointless signings, and whoever signed-off on Jonjo Shelvey (eight games played) wants firing out of a f***ing cannon into the moon.
