Financial Fair Play (FFP)

So you might not know what's happening until April 12th at that point just 6 games left - lets be honest no chance they give you points back if it means relegating another club. Imagine you get 10 points then on appeal it drops to 6 points which then relegates a team a week after they thought they were safe!!!

Pretty sure there will be legal routes if you have enough money to delay this process just have a word with City I am sure they can give us some hints and tips.

Just hope we get told how far we have missed FFP by so we can try and get an idea of the worst case punishment.

Whoever put this timetable of events together is totally clueless

Stayed pretty level headed and quiet on this but I've got to say it: It's a load of old bollocks

How does it make any sense? Financial Fair Play, Profitability and Sustainability, whatever they want to dress it as this week.

Basically, if you're one of the "big 6" you can do what the hell you like with zero consequence. But if anyone else finds themselves with a rich owner who likes to spunk his money on a football club, that's against the rules? Let's be honest, not many clubs run at a profit, certainly not if they want to compete at the right end of the Prem. So, to protect the big boys, we all get squashed.

I can see why they'd want to make clubs sustainable to avoid another Bury scenario at the bottom end of the pyramid but if Mr Marinakis wants to throw his money playing footballer top trumps, why not let him? Same with any other owner that buys a club to basically run as a hobby. Newcastle seem to be worrying about FFP when they have probably the richest owners of all, but Chelsea continue to spunk money all over the place to be 10th with no recrimination. Man Utd continue to waste money (£90m for the pointless fidget spinner that is Anthony, £350k a week on Sancho who's gone out on loan, etc)- does anyone see them being told off? And lots not even start on Man City - how the hell are they part of the "big 6"? they were wank for most of their history and were happily plodding around the lower leagues. Timing I guess, same as Chelsea. Got in there before this FFP lark started

It's a broken system. There's no other way of describing it.

Whether we like it or not, it's not a level playing field and we have to question whether it ever has been. Even in the early days of the FA Cup, the old Mill towns in the amateur days were playing ringers and Old Etonians were making up the rules as they went along to suit themselves.

Rant over

Just been to Grantham. Have I missed anything? Think I got a speeding ticket on the way in, you know that big hill you come down from the A1. Bastard speed van, if anyone is going that way.
Speed van?
Permanent ( 60mph ) camera coming down that hill..

Correction: Going up the hill on the way in? Bastards..

FFP is bollocks and needs changing but if there was a more foresight with transfers we wouldn’t be in this position anyway.

Can moan about FFP all we want but if we hadn’t wasted so much on dross then we wouldn’t be in this position.

Hopefully we can stay up regardless of the punishment we are given and it is a wake up call to Marinakis etc

You are of course, 100% correct and no complaints from me - we take our punishment.
My problem is even having taken the punishment - the EPL still gets to play god.

Yep. Let’s get it straight though on the EPL

Man City and Chelsea have purchased the silence from other clubs. All EPL clubs sign up to the rules which are there to be manipulated or followed. The EPL is simply a collective of prem clubs despite appearances claiming to be an independent “authority”

Legislation is also good news for Chelsea and Man City, old rules replaced by new rules, will be agreed by every prem league club.. the only moaning is from supporters the see through the very thin layer of duplicity.

Look, 2 seasons ago we got promoted to the epl essentially by mistake.. we had 3 contracted players who could make the step up. We had to go out and buy essentially a full squad that would give us the chance to fight to keep our place, we took gambles on kids and players who had never played in the league before and and had to hope that stevie could get them playing like a team in no time at all!
yes we wasted some money on players but there was always going to be a few duds in the volume that we signed. Should we have paid jlingz 2.5million per week? Probably not but by god can he dance!

all in all we are probably going to get some kind of points deduction for this but I reckon Nuno can get them all firing again and upto safety, if only we could play manu every week…

If it is an announcement then at least one or both teams are getting charged (or another team not yet mentioned), or why have an announcement to say all teams are compliant.

Think it's pretty clear we're getting charged. I'm just interested to hear what we've done, and by how much we've broken the rules.

Club statement will probably already be prepared.

We don’t deserve a points deduction.. not when there are clubs dropping 80mill on a single player that the6 can afford to bench for half a season or even send out on loan, the systems fooked

We do if we've broken the rules.

System might be weighted towards certain clubs, but we should be accepting that and being smarter and better anyway.

Football is bent AF and has been for years. That's not an excuse we can hide behind though.

IMO when someone is promoted unless they have parachute payments the 3 year cycle should start from the first season back in the PL so it’s a even playing field and everyone then has a better chance of staying up.

Of course that’s assuming the PL want newly promoted teams to have a fighting change, which they don’t. They want us to just enjoy our one year at the top getting spanked every week then f*** off for a few years like Norwich.

They don't want everyone to have a fighting chance.
What they actually want is to pull up the relegation/promotion ladder and slam the drawbridge shut.

Your rationale doesn't make sense.

You think Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd etc are OK with the Man City/Chelsea situation?
Who decided that Everton were guilty - EPL or the clubs?
Who made the decision to give Everton a 10 point deduction, the EPL or the clubs?
Who will decide if their appeal succeeds, the EPL or the clubs?
Who decides whether we are guilty or not and the level of our punishment?
