FA Youth Cup Final v Manchester United

This is the first time in a long time that working in Manchester is a good thing! Will be there with a number of people I've recruited from the office!

As well as Albert Schloss, I recommend the Gas Works which is near Deansgate met stop, on route to Old Trafford. Got pricey recently but it's a cool place, as is Bunny Jackson's next door which does 10p chicken wings!

Expected to go past the record for the tournament of 38k which was for the 2007 Semi-Final between Manchester Utd and Arsenal.

Great to see. It's going to be a fantastic experience for the young lads playing for both sides. The possibility of playing in front of crowds like that every week is a great incentive for any young player.

Looks like we will be breaking the record attendance for a youth cup final, 38k sold so far the current record is 38.1k

**Edit** the highest attendance was Arsenal (at home) Vs Villa in a semi final in 2007

I've also discovered that the way the draw is made decides where theatch is played. So we could have had a sold out CG hosting.

Lads must be buzzing at the prospect of playing in front of 40k crowds.

That's more than any of our first team players have experienced this year, and in some cases more than they've ever played in front of.

Alejandro Garnacho who should play in this for United came off the bench last night to make his senior debut.

Likewise for Shola Shoretire who was on the bench.

I see that the U18's play Man Utd away again on Sat 14 May, their last game of the season in the U18 Premier League. This one will be at the Aon Training Complex.

This game is starting to feel like a nice distraction from the playoffs now. Looking forward to it.

Our youngsters seem in fine form at the moment, too, winning a string of games in April.

Hopefully a big crowd in Manchester will lift them.

They badly want to win this considering the season their first team has had + their history, tradition and expectation around young players. This is what gives them hope. Hence over 50k sold now.

This will be history if we can pull this off. Be massive if we can spoil their party. First serious trophy for the club in a long time. A trophy all the big clubs want.

Their press release today.

Justin Cochraine (Head of #mufc academy player development and coaching):

“[This is a] club where youth is at the priority of their thinking. We’ve got Darren Fletcher who has been key in supporting the young players and supporting the progress of the young players.”

Justin Cochraine (Head of #mufc academy player development and coaching):

“Darren Fletcher and John Murtough have made it really clear to myself that that’s (pathway from academy to 1st team) the priority and it’s exciting times for the football club.”

Justin Cochraine on Erik ten Hag:

“He comes also with a background of developing youth players, so for these young players who are going to play at Old Trafford, it’s a great opportunity for them to play well and stake a claim in the exciting times ahead.”

Justin Cochraine (Head of #mufc academy player development and coaching) on the record breaking FA Youth Cup Final crowd:

“I’m looking forward to seeing how the players handle it”

They expecting 50k

Fair play to United fans too. Whilst their sustained success naturally attracts plastic leaches (pricks in Notts wearing United shirts I'm looking at you) they still have that hardcore Manc element.

Really looking forward to this. They're leaving it a bit late with the coach tickets though - it's only a week away!

100%

To be honest I look at what Busby did at United & that story there & I have nothing but respect for the club & their ideals.

Can't control the plastics & one thing is for sure, I'm not sure any other club would get this sort of crowd for the FA Yth Cup final.

Currently 53k now & we taking 4900+

They are still not an easy club to like.

I think its the arrogance and entitlement.
