Why would Brighton loan out one of their top players anyway?

If he’s so good why isn’t he starting? It’s not as if this is his first season.
A no from me.

I agree. Taiwo has had 80-100m (possible exaggeration) spell of a month or so. How much of an upgrade is he to what we have?

He's 7 years younger then Taiwo.
Taiwo great servant but how many injuries.
Taiwo dried up this season.
Ferguson has development on his side.
It would be a yes from me and a goodbye Taiwo, A heavy hearted goodbye, But one the club has to take.

if he doesn't get any games at brighton , he ain't going to get it at forest at the moment. I prefer a young foreign striker or someone in the lower leagues with potential that won't mind playing back up.

Taiwo has 7 years more experience and a proven track record of scoring goals.
Ferguson has also had several injuries at a young age.
Prior to scoring his one goal this season against Wolves, his last goal came against Forest in November '23.
I'd argue that Taiwo also still has development on his side, there are still several parts of his game which he can improve on.

Not to dig you out, but it is easy to twist these things to suit.

I am not sure what advantage there is for Forest bringing in Ferguson on loan, he isn't a prolific scorer, has had several injuries which have kept him out for long periods and knowing Brighton, he isn't going to be cheap either if they want to sign him with an obligation to buy.

Because he isn’t one of their top players.

Speaking with Brighton fans he had a decent break out season several years ago but the hat trick v Newcastle seemed to suddenly get media and fan hype (80m price tag etc) but hasn’t really done anything since.

Most of the PL clubs in London seem to be linked with him. Seems to me like Brighton aren’t sure whether to sell or not. If it’s all about getting him fit via loan, you’d ship him out of the PL somewhere abroad IMO.

Brighton clearly know something though because this kid was basically the next Alan Shearer when he got into their team. Usually they bring cheap players through or academy products and sell them on for a profit so they won't be looking to cut their losses easily. And they know if a player is good enough they are young enough, Hinshelwood is around their team this season and scored against us and he's younger than Evan

If we're looking at a longer term replacement for Wood or competition he needs to be ready to play now

Agree with the point about being ready to play now. There's a lot of ability in there, but he doesn't look fit enough at the moment. Perhaps he is recovering from injuries and just going through the inevitable ups and downs of being a young player. If that is the case, I wonder if him going out to a championship team or a lower Prem side where he'll play a lot more and get back to full fitness might be better. Taiwo looks ready to go now and I'm worried if he leaves we might be swapping someone out who is more ready to have an impact now.

Sometimes a change of scenery can really help; see CHO/Elanga/etc. Obviously not all the same exact scenario but maybe that's the play?

I’d trust our recruitment team not to loan/buy anyone who’s crocked. I think we’ve all got plenty of confidence in them after the last 12-18 months. He still had great potential and has shown his ability & what he might be able to achieve in the past. Don’t forget that they’re stacked for attacking talent with Welbeck, Enciso, Adingra, Rutter and Pedro all as options.

Injured again

Ideally Evan Ferguosn (sic) would be the man to feature in his absence but the Irishman, who continues to be linked with a January move away, is also struggling his his foot problem “If he was fit, yes, he would be [playing],” Hurzeler added. “He will also be out. Like the last weekend. It’s not an easy issue. But I hope that it doesn't take too long.
"So let's see how it's going. Also, I don't want to make or say any clear predictions because I don't know. We really have to go week for week and hope that he's a good healer.”

Asked if it’s the same foot issue that forced Ferguson to have surgery last term, Hurzeler added: “It's a different ankle, the other side."
