Embargo lifted in January?

Nixon seems pretty sure. That would be great really. I hope we've learned our lesson about reckless spending but with a few reasonable additions we could make a push?

Probably not though.

@reluctantnicko hi alan, just wondering whether you know anything about this apparent meeting between dougie and fawaz over dougies future

Alan Nixon ‏@reluctantnicko 17 hrs17 hours ago
@mcdaid_owen Usual crap rumour

Owen mcdaid ‏@mcdaid_owen 17 hrs17 hours ago
@reluctantnicko oh right is it true that the embargo is likely to be lifted for january

Alan Nixon ‏@reluctantnicko 17 hrs17 hours ago
@mcdaid_owen Thats the hope. And should be the case.

@reluctantnicko fantastic, it would be nice to see what dougie can do with a bit of money

No point spending this season, the squads good enough to stay up - especially when Cohen and Britt return.

Save those funds for when we need them. If Dougie can't get this squad to at least 15th, get a manager who can.

I can name you at least one.

I bet we have learned absolutely nothing. The renewed ability to splash Fawaz's cash on players will be used to entice a new manager in.

Great, now we can put in a £2.5mil bid for Michael Frey, before changing our minds on deadline day and buying Simon Cox instead.

I hope we've got space in the treatment room for them, they'll need somewhere to sit and earn their wages until we release them on free's in 2018

It would be very odd if the embargo wasn't lifted in January given the recent back tracking by the FL. Blackburn are set to be out of it too.

Obviously this will be nice, but I'm still not sure it will happen. It would be typical if we spent 5m and were embargoed for the summer.

Just a thought, but could the failure to recruit a CEO, retain/replace Leon Hunter, that Omar fella, Chas Ralph and other back-room staff be part of tangible cost-cutting measures to enable us to get-over-the-line in January as opposed to next summer?

People like Ralph et al wouldn't have been on high salaries, but a competent CEO would, and together the amounts all add up.

I think we will blow a lot of money either I'm January or the summer to try to gain the quick dollar once in the Premier League.

Even though talk about Premier League is stupid, but won't stop Fawaz in trying.

Surely it'd be far more effective just to try and mutually terminate a couple of useless/injury prone players (Fox and Reid's) contracts. More money saved, and keeping structure.

I agree.

The problems on the pitch arent predominantly financial. We have good players in every position & good youngsters in the wings.

Arming a manager like Freedman with money would compound our problems & prove we've learned nowt. A pre requisite to any manager getting funds should be a tangible plan going forward. I dont think Dougie has one...after 36 games!

How about allowing Dougie the time to work with & develop the squad free of the embargo straitjacket?
Revolutionary I know - but let's abandon this suicidal demand for instant success & allow the guy to do the job he was brought in to do.
Far too sensible I fear!
And yes - I know I'm in an ever decreasing minority.

Spend away........FFP is in it's death throe's. Ridiculous concept to begin with and an attempt to Hamstring English teams because we have the Brinks Truck TV money.

So he can sign players like Beckford and trotter.lol.cant wait for that.what will dougies excuses be for poor results if the embargo is lifted?

He's not a man for making excuses, remember? I mean it's naivety, injuries and FFP as he reminds us but Dougies not one for making excuses!

Why will it be great? Unless you're thinking we put ourselves straight back in to one after Jan.

Don't know the rules inside and out but it makes no sense really. I still don't see how the numbers add up to suggest we will be out in the summer!

Beat me to it on Trotter. He'll be a player Freedman signs permanently, then when he's sacked a couple of months later we'll all be going on about clearing out the dead wood, and Trotter being part of that.

Indeed.

Though by that time we could be bottom of the league on current form.
