You'd imagine we'd be telling both players they're our number 1 choice, Bruce Forsyth style.Personally believe Giminez was always our priority...
There's another way around a relegation clause for the player Emmo - score a sufficient number of goals to ensure it doesn't happen. If the relegation clause is correct than that’s fair by us and nketiah. Eddie dosen’t have to accept it. All I would say is whoever is advising him is looking after his pocket first and not his premier league career. There are ways round a relegation clause like for example if Nketiah puts a 15 mill relegation release clause in his contract so we can’t out price his move from the club if we go down.
I've always found the spelling of the name of the condition itself to be somewhat ironic.Bit gutted, I think he would have fit into our system really well. But we don't want someone here who's hearts not in it either.
Giminez will probably need longer to adjust to the league, but at 23 years old he's more one for the future anyway.
From a personal POV though, I'm chuffed that Eddie isn't coming just because his surname is a f***ing dyslexics nightmare.
Yeah I agree, and it’s more evidence to show we are getting better at this transfer game, making sure we have contingencies in play like others have done against us in the pastPersonally believe Giminez was always our priority, as much as people are assuming the Nketiah deal has broken down due to the players demands it could just as easily be us that's stalled the move with Feyenoord softening up to our latest proposal
I would be surprised if it was over wages.I was genuinely excited by this prospect. Like most of us. The more I read & saw the better it sounded.
Can anyone explain why it's supposedly broken down?
I do agree with you, though I don't think it's unreasonable to surmise that we'd be up against it once other London-based clubs declared an interest.Disappointed with this one, personally think we might come to regret it in the end as I am far from sold about Gimenez. Some foreign journo on Twitter was saying Gimenez was always the number one target and Nketiah was the backup, so maybe something changed in the formers stance which made us go back. Personally think we shouldn't be hammering Nketiah about why the move broke down when we don't know the full story.
I think it's the London thing. Probably sees Palace as more secure in their PL status also.Seems his move to Palace is edging closer.
Was looking at estimates of their wage bill vs ours. According to a couple of websites the overall bill is not very different. Those sources also say their top paid players are paid around a 100k a week (Eze, Henderson and Kamada).
If they can meet Nketiah's expectations, then I think we could have but I feel we just wanted Gimenez more.
Forest are magic on and off the pitch!

If I was him I'd be wondering about game time more than anything else. While I agree to some extent, if I was Nketiah and seeing the Romano/Ornestein tweets about us bidding for Gimenez at the same time, I’d be asking how much do they actually want me? Why should I leave my family and friends for a club that isn’t 100% all in on me?
I agree, we’ve been playing a dangerous game. Could end up empty handed as a result. While I agree to some extent, if I was Nketiah and seeing the Romano/Ornestein tweets about us bidding for Gimenez at the same time, I’d be asking how much do they actually want me? Why should I leave my family and friends for a club that isn’t 100% all in on me?
I certainly get your point, but that goes with the territory in an info-obsessed digital age, whereby clubs generally have fallback options that tend to get picked up by the media. While I agree to some extent, if I was Nketiah and seeing the Romano/Ornestein tweets about us bidding for Gimenez at the same time, I’d be asking how much do they actually want me? Why should I leave my family and friends for a club that isn’t 100% all in on me?
I don't understand this logic. If leaving his family and friends is an issue for him how would Forest "wanting him" or otherwise change any of that? While I agree to some extent, if I was Nketiah and seeing the Romano/Ornestein tweets about us bidding for Gimenez at the same time, I’d be asking how much do they actually want me? I think we will have other irons in the fire, O also think if we didn't get someone in we might be OK anyway until January.I don't understand this logic. If leaving his family and friends is an issue for him how would Forest "wanting him" or otherwise change any of that?
Also, I know players often say after they've signed that "it was clear the club wanted me" etc etc but that's just fluff for the media and the fans
Players don't sign for a club based on how much said club "wants" them; as a reason to join a club I'd imagine that's approaching the bottom of the list
I love the romantic notion that a club has their one solitary target and go all-in on them without pursuing anyone else but the reality is the club will have irons in many fires when recruiting for any position, and that's as it should be
