Is that Karembeu who gives his head a pat?

Said it in another thread, his resume is incredible for someone his age.
Was listening to the Sams Army Podcast earlier, and they're of the opinion that Murphy is perhaps one of the most influential Americans in football after Sunday.

I'm hoping he comes up trumps again this Summer because we really have a conundrum to solve.

How to retain team spirit, how to find the players we need within the small (for the Prem) budget we've got and how to cope with the myriad of other pressures on a CEO like the new stand, for instance.

There is the nucleus of a good team around him, of course, but it's a daunting challenge for anyone.

I'm sure he can do it, but it's going to be an exciting time.

it's new territory for dane and cooper to be in the premier league but you know he's up for the task having achieved the success at barnsley and forest in such a short time in england,

Done an interview with Sirius XM in the States, this section stood out to me:

“Even at Premier League level, you have an enormous scale. There are some clubs with a lot and some clubs with light resources, to put it politically correctly, I would say we’re somewhere in the middle. The owner wants to invest in all areas of the club, to make sure we’re at a standard that not only keeps the talent around and helps us grow, but attracts players, staff, individuals, who we may not have been able to bring in from continental Europe or from the Americas or wherever."

Sounds like he's aiming high next season and has his eye on the foreign market.

There is even less value in the English market in the Prem than there is in the Championship

We will have to do due diligence which we will now but looking abroad for a fair chunk of our players is a no brainer

I think it's no coincidence that when Dane Murphy put his stamp on Barnsley FC, they finished in the playoffs.

No coincidence either that each season Cooper has managed in the Championship, he has finished in the playoffs.

That's why many fans began to get excited when they both joined. It has always felt like a dream partnership.

After the first 7 games, I was honestly thinking it might be next season that we really push strongly for promotion. Still living in a dream right now. Thank you Dane and Stevie Cooper. So much.

I’ve said it before in another thread but I’ll say it again, the longer both Dane and Cooper stay at this club the more successful we will become. I’d maybe go as far as to say Dane is more important than Cooper in the long run. Blasphemy I know.

All the noise when Cooper joined was about a top ten finish. What an incredible journey we’ve had.

Dane and football admistrator Taymour Roushdi came together from barnsley and both of them worked together at Real Salt Lake in the US. Taymour helped Dane a lot with all the adminstrative stuffs.

If we go down I hope we stick with Cooper. Would be nobody better to try and get us back again.

but but

I thought you couldnt fart around here without being reminded of Clough.

Jokinear aside, I actually think both views are right. Dane is respectful of our history but isn't clinging to it. Kinnear was right in that we shouldn't cling to it or let it define the present.

We are here on merit, he sees this, he sees it as the start of something not the end of something, you can see that with what we're doing this window. Even if we go down we will stand a good chance of going up if we keep hold of Cooper or indeed get someone in who is a step up.

Its hard not to listen to Dane and get a stiffy. He just sounds like a man you would trust to get a job done-any job!. And for what its worth I think he gets the tone regarding the history of the club just right. Its what we are, its in our bones, theres nothing to be afraid of-every bloody club in this country barring Manure and Liverpool would swop their history for ours.... but theres absolutely nothing stopping us building more histories. U reds!!!!!!!

History is just that, can't be changed so you accept it because there's no other choice. I'm a bit confused, it's almst like we're embarrassed by it, just because it was a long time ago doesn't mean it's any less impressive. I'd rather have our history with our achievements than one like Derby's

I'm sure we shall have new achievements to celebrate too.

yeah but he had a point when we were fannying around in the Championship relegation zone and everyone was fapping off about Clough and the glory days, as though it was some sort of mitigation from the current situation.

Saying that I do think it was disrespectful of our history too, as you say it is part of the club's past and can't be changed, though sometimes it is embarrassing, like being the first European champions to be relegated to the 3rd tier, and being 23 years (the longest) outside the top flight (though Oldham have been longer and will clearly be away for some time more as they dropped out of the league).

It's frightening really how much Dane and Steve really get this club.
