Champion's League??

It's been a long hard season for them, they are still in the FA Cup, they might want to end up in the CL places but being knocked out will have been demoralising.

That tie will have taken a lot out both physically and mentally, irrespective of whether or not it went to extratime. They now have 3 massive games in 7 days. If we can't win in the next run of games, it's all immaterial anyway.

Time will tell I suppose.

If Man City & Newcastle beat Villa then with no further information we'd be:
- 3 points clear of them
- They'd only have 4 games left
- We'd have 6 games
- We'd have a superior goal difference of 12, effectively giving us an additional point at that late stage.

We would finish above Villa in that scenario, probably doing so with only a victory for Leicester and a couple of other draws. That would be enough.

Chelsea are inconsistent and aside from Newcastle also face Liverpool and Fulham before they face us, at the CG.

I'm with the group of folk who say let Newcastle & Man City beat them both. Newcastle and Man City are in red hot form and have the fixtures to overhaul us regardless. Our aim needs to be top five, and the likely scenario discounting us for a second is that Newcastle and City finish above Chelsea and Villa. So, as long as we're above Chelsea and Villa, that'll do us.
Sincerely hope you’re right Max

but I wouldn’t call Newcastle’s run in that straightforward with their last 4 games being Brighton, Arsenal, Chelsea & Everton…

Jacob Murphy is starting to annoy me.
To be fair, he's having a great season, which is nice to see for any player who isn't a "star player."

I know it's quite mean-spirited of me, but whilst I'm not averse to the Villa love-in (there are worse love-ins we could be having, after all), I categorically wasn't on-board with them winning the CL and matching our own magnificent achievements. I'm glad they're out. There......I said it.
U guys defended it, winning 2 is not as good as successfully defending it. That can never ever be taken from u and is very hard for other clubs to replicate

Obviously it is all speculation but I think last night's performance may well give Villa a lift. Players enjoyed it, positive media reporting, Villa fans proud of the performance. Could be a nice boost for the run in to make the players want the same again next season. As for FA Cup, and it being a long season, Aren't Forest in the FA Cup too? Will the negative (if a semi final in the FA Cup is a negative) not be evened out?

We've not had 10 extra games in Europe.

Maybe wishful thinking on my part, but lets see how things pan out.

12 extra games, but I think we have much more depth in the squad to be able to handle that. We added 5 players in Jan that haven't had those games and are quite well rested as they weren't getting 1st team football with their parent club. Tbh, I don't think fatigue will be an issue as we can and do rotate a lot (we made 8 changes for our league game against u guys). I think the key at this stage is injury to key players. Key player getting injured or suspended is the killer neither of us want

Holy shit! I always thought Newcastle would overtake us but right now they look like the best team in the PL. I think they are dead certs for a CL place so we have to hope they beat everyone else, starting with Villa. Howay the lads or whatever...
